agree. More freedom offered, more laws needed
Just like they were explicit in banning abortion in certain states, by not just outlawing the practice but also threatening prison time for doctors and also the social pressures on women seeking it....some of these tactics can be used to stop custom designer babies
I'm confused. What's wrong with designer babies?

-if they were to figure out the DNA technique to ensure mensa membership OR having a photo-memory, but strategically price it high
-I have a kid that I want to have certain white/asian features, but my baby moms is pro-Black

Besides the consequences of self hate OR unknown side effects that manipulating DNA will have on future generations , the main problem is really about the advantages of having access and lack of efforts to ensure fair access for cutting edge technology/medicine

Intelligence has been shown to have multiple genes plus major environmental factors tied to it. Same with photographic memory. As far as price. Wouldn't that be neutralized by more people offering the service and it becomes cheaper as tech advances. I.e. dead7 competition capitalism arguments.

And people already choose children's features now just by mate selection. Or even use of sperm donors. This would just make the outcome more accurate.

Manipulate DNA if problems arise just change it back next time.

That last bit is just capitalism arguments.

good points.
A human with DNA signature for swift retaining/recalling/applying info (priceless abilities) has little to do with their environment, thus the various teaching methods to address various learning abilities/pace

There're multiple car dealerships, but depending on brand and features to add, the car price will vary. And price increases even more if unique skills/techniques are required. Same applies to plastic surgery/cloning pets/restaurants/teaching....more services don't always equate to decrease in price

The only way to recall/fix bad DNA jobs will be to track patients and ensure they never reproduce, then update DNA technique for future sessions. Which is possible with a detailed service agreements and patients being honest. We currently can't get politicians and activist to agree on trangenders revealing their previous sex, so imagine asking them to agree with tracking/preventing reproduction
