If he had 3-4 years on his deal I’d agree, but 2 is risky to give up assets without him signing a long term deal. You’d essentially be giving up a young cornerstone player plus young players/assets for a two year rental. You’d get less for him next year then you would right now seeing as he’d be an expiring. A sign and trade wouldn’t also let you back less in return than what you gave up to get him.
A similar example of this is what Houston gave up to get Westbrook/what they got in return for trading him to Washington.
2 years is more than enough time plus he will be 33 then . No way at the age of his career he’d pass up the big offer the team can offer him.
