Honestly as a Engineer, This is what I fear when it comes to having a 6 fig engineer job.

i hate reading news articles like this. its stories like this that should force every black person to refuse to brainwash their kids into pursuing higher education just for the purpose of working for A COMPANY or SOMEONE. pursue education with the end goal in mind of being able to work for urself. i hate it when i hear a black person say with pride "yeah i work for XYZ company as a blah blah blah Manager, Director, VP etc". nah n1gga, they can replace u just like that and u go from a VP to unemployed.

This sounds good in theory but in IP, you need a lot of LIQUID capitol or AIs. These are usually out of reach for 99.9% of Black techies. Black people outside of the industry underestimate the cost that goes into this. This isn't as simple as a website and selling bullshyt on shopify.

All those people who say they disapprove, would not verbally say this but their passion about the issue probably falls in line with this thinking. There were a couple articles last year I think about diversity issues in Silicon Valley, this isn't really a surprise. I personnaly don't know much about that world but there are elements that have always made me feel uneasy about that whole culture, not that I want to generalize. Most people don't start their own companies or own their own businesses.
It should be encouraged, but blanket statements like "work for yourself" mean absolutely nothing unless they come attached to some start-up money, wealthy parents, or useful connections.

Thing is man most companies that are started by folks.....those folks got started working for someone else. They then took that training and knowledge and started their own company.

Take video games. 2k company was started by engineers/programmers that worked at Electronic Arts.
