Jamaicans get the most Etherous nikka Wake Up Calls

I'll say this:

First time I went to Jamaica, I flew into Montego Bay and took a bus to a resort. The bus driver was a CAC but when he got on the horn to address the passengers, he had the thickest Jamaican accent you ever heard. shyt tripped me out.

In Jamaica for the most part whether you're black or white you're a Jamaican. Under many people we are one. For the most part white Jamaicans dont consider themselves white just Jamaican.
You're going to have classism (which is getting worse) and for the most part the upper class consists of whites, Indians, and Chinese; but that's a given anywhere. Jamaicans grow up having no real idea of the deep intracassies of racism and most white people they see are on TV and in Movies.


Most know racism exists but once they come to America and white people are treating them kindly they start to think its a myth and overblown and exaggerated and many times end up c00ning hard for white people and see African Americans as incitors of their own destruction. They believe if they just work hard enough and surround themselves with white pepper and adopt their walk they'll be accepted.

However once something goes missing, a job is up for grabs, or their white friends get too comfortable around them enough to do the "you're not like the others speech" their sleep begins to dissapate.


So many of my family members talk to me about coming to America thinking white people were so nice because they'll always smile in your face and be polite to you. Everyone I talk to talks about the subtly of it especially. In Most black communities if someone doesn't like you you don't have to ask. With many white people they'll smile in your face while sharpening the blade to stab you in the back once it best benefits them or they don't need you anymore. This smile is usually indistinguishable from a sincere smile.

Most AA's are already hip to these games though because they've had to play them so many times for generations. A NWC etherourous as a child than when it's administered as an adult(just like chicken pox).

When Islanders/Africans get theirs its usually out of no where and many times public. Their whole view of their environment becomes flipped and they realize that no matter what they do they will not be seen as equals even if they distance themselves from AA's.

I see some people complain that Jamaicans c00n a lot. I'm not defending it but you gotta understand where their coming from. Jamaican men born after 1980 love white girls too just like they love bmws because it's something they associated with wealth and high status when they were younger. Ive spoken to many born Jamaicans and 1 thing I always notice is how much they want you to think jamaica is so "diverse". Jamaica is 90%+ black and is not diverse, nor should it pride itself in being so. Tell me, do Jamaicans in Jamaica see themselves as the default Jamaicans and the whites, asian and indian foreigners? Or do they naively put themselves in the same status as minorities even though they are the majority.

"Under many people we are one", that logo tells me you have no respect for yourself as a "black" person. Jamaicans aren't victims, they work hard. You might observe them experiencing racism but they overcome it rather than sit there and complain about it. An L is only an L if you sit there an cry about it or getting up and push through it.

I'm not dividing anyone I'm Jamaican so I can speak on certain things I see. My country is beautiful and our people are some of the coolest, most laid back people, but we still have our fair share of issues especially when it comes to our identity once migrating

My pops is Jamaican, and I agree with you . I miss understood what they mean by diverse because Im like its 90% black.

I can co sign what the OP is talking about. I'm not jamaican (Haitian born in the US) and I see this sort of attitude among non american blacks all the time. At my last job, there was this Jamaican dude that I swear to god used to stay referring to blacks(I'm guessing AA's) as straight up "******s." He'd be on some shyt like "Man... You know what I hate?? It's always those fukking ******s that come here and give me a hard time."

shyt used to to me because I'd witness all types of people get into it with him yet he'd say that as if he was some sort of grade above AA's. It's plenty of those types all around so I just pretty much weed that shyt out and check them and put them on. They be thinking they're some sort of name brand negro. It's basically like that with most non black americans. It's why when I see dudes on here talking all day about Dominicans not claiming "black" sometimes it trips me out because I hear/see this same shyt with haitians, jamaicans and other non american blacks all the time.

When you see an Asian person, do you care what their origin and culture is? How bout all the different indians, bangladesh, pakistani etc? Theres is too much different people to differentiate everybody so people just will associate you with whatever you're closest to. This is such a dumb argument I don't understand it at all. Many blacks consider all asians "chinese", does that mean a taiwanese man won't see himself as taiwanese because those blacks over there consider them all chinese?
