I said it before but if 85% of heavyweight and light-heavyweight pro boxers took 6 months to a year to learn takedown defense, they would dominate the ufc if they transitioned in those division

I don't know about the lighter divisions though

Great, you taught them take down defense then they get hit with this:

I guess Inoki is the God then, because he gave Ali blood cots in his leg from how hard he kicked him.

I think it proves that even an amatuer boxer can beat an mma fighter in a boxing match.

Doesn't MMA include stand up fighting? This dude was wrestler, but he should've still had more striking training than the youtuber over his career.
MMA fighters list all these martial arts they mastered all the time and some of them should be similar enough to allow them to be competent in a boxing match. look at muay thai stances vs boxing ones for example

if you study kickboxing for 20 years you can't regular box at least as good as a dude who has only been boxing for a few years? Makes me wonder why they even study any other techniques, should just master boxing and wrestling and you would be ready vs anyone. No need for any type of kick training

Muay Thai would easily handle a boxer. Their kicks to the leg feel like baseball bats. Imagine your boxing technique after getting hit in the leg with a baseball bat. Your power is gone, your footwork is gone.

Also Thai fights throw knees, so as soon as a boxer ducks you'll get a knee to the head. This is exactly why Thai coaches tell you tell lay off the boxing movements

I’m talking about if the thai fighter had to do a straight boxing match against an amateur boxer

Why do you cats who don’t follow the sport even comment on it lol?

Ok mr boxing/mma expert at I’m sure you know exactly what happened during the Hall v Weisman fight on the same ticket, how many seconds before it ended and how many times Weisman has been in a similar situation then? :stopitslime:

Been a boxing/mma fan for going on 10 years a$$hole

People mentioning street fights as if its Tekken or something. It depends on who strikes first, if a boxer gets started and lands his first, very little chance for the other party, and if the MMA guy gets into his grappling first, it's over for the boxer. But, it's a street fight, you can't jiu jitsu a knife to the ribs or weave a rock to the gut, so that argument is invalid. Just take them for what they are, sports, not some fantasy movie scenarios.

This is where I'm at. It definitely opened my eyes, I figured a MMA guy, regardless of age and all that, would have years and years of built in knowledge and training to school a newcomer. By him not doing that now it feels like these dudes who are legit bad boxers in UFC (and theres a ton of them), are just that, bad boxers. I don't feel like I used to, where I figured that they'd destroy anybody who didn't have years and years of experience ingrained into them.
