This shyt is getting obliterated in the reviews
they had zero self awareness if they thought this old school approach to race commentary would fly today. and to do it with amateur actors no less.
even if this movie was great it would gotten at best a lukewarm reception.what was there backup idea? doing a remake of the jeffersons? starring kevin hart and will ferrell,
white people are at peak self victomhood in 2023. they banned ruby bridges just the other day.

One of the biggest problems is it cannot replicate the 90's. No cell phones, no social media. No way someone who can play can hustle dudes in sports without a quick google or YouTube etc search.
Folks don't even play outside like and hoop anymore either.
It was Pre And 1. And some things just don't age well.

honestly I liked house party (except that random ass kid cudi side quest) for what it was…it felt enough like it’s own movie and not the knock off I thought it was gonna be…

Its tough because there was no political correctness in the 90s so it just hit harder to say nothing of the pedigree of the actors ( though Sinqua.Wells and Jack Harlow were solid).

The house party was a 10/10, the sequels suck, the remake a 6/10.It was cool....
Just like with House Party though, call this shyt something else cuz I'ma inevitably compare it to the heart and soul of the original where it's gone look funny in the light.

Truth be told the first film isn't that good,maybe a 6/10. Gloria and Woody relationship is weird, and they were downtrodden in a weird way that adds nothing to the movie. Gloria is everything that is wrong in relationships, Woody is a incel, Wesley is Tariq before the podcast, but right after the art of Mackin. And you decide to remake that?
