This, like house party were only good because
1) they captured the culture at the exact moment in time where these specific stories fit. Almost like pre-emptive nostalgia, Can't fake that for a new generation

2) white men can't jump was carried by the charisma of Wesley, Woody and Rosie, who were all in the prime or just breaking out as stars. they meshed incredibly well together. none of the actors in this cast give me that sense. lightening in a bottle, hard to recapture that, and when you do its through metiiculous casting, not by throwing a popular rapper into the film to bank on his stardom to sell tickets

3) this film originally was cashing in on the popularity of spike lee films which obviously is no longer the case now, but it was essentially a third party spike lee movie. This film has the nerve to clown spike lee in the trailer, showing that is entirely aware of this but is mocking him for it. ala witcher writers clowning the source material, clear red flag.
