Gettin' It In
Where Eva Mendes at tho?
But he knew that Seagal/Chestnut pair would give him that boostI woulda turned it down.. This is when vin left the franchise remember there is no way ja would know the franchise would rebound or hed be guaranteed more work ..luda just got lucky
See: lil bow wow

He didn't even turn it down though, nikka wouldn't even return calls to say thanks but no thanks. Doing stuff like that and burning bridges if you're trying to come up in Hollywood is a good way to become....Ja Rule statusI woulda turned it down.. Both Luda and Tyrese were making "real" money in music then.Pretty sure Ja was tripping then or now. This was a time whn they had all the hits, and music made 'real' ( compared to other entertainment avenues, not my E-4 pay ) money.

I forgot but Tyrese low key had a couple classic jams. shyt like Sweet Lady
I'm saying. John Singleton was at the helm when Vin Diesel wasn't even with the franchise when it was on shaky ground then and truth be told it was a shytty movie (2 Fast 2 Furious looked like some shyt that came on USA network) there was no guarantee Ja would even be included in the sequels. Some people turn down roles all the time (Will Smith turned down Neo role). Who's to say he even wanted to act back then. People look at the money and just assume you an idiot for not taking it. Some of yall don't remember Ja was making a ton of money back then (when records were actually selling) so 500K at the time to film for a month might've slowed down whatever he was doing back then .Like I said earlier this is all from John's perspective. I'd like to hear what Ja has to say about it.The franchise wasn't what it is now. They basically had to reinvent shyt after Tokyo Drift. The sequel was meh at best. Can't really blame him for balking.

Id bet Luda in particular made more from this franchise than anything he's done. Music included. And Tyrese too. He's been in a lot of movies, but the majority of em were box office duds. Id guess they both make 8 figs for these flicks. At least a high 7figs.
When studios do sequels, they're more generous w/ money to keep the cast together. Cameron Diaz was making like 8figs to do Shrek breh.man, there's only a handful of actors that make 8 figures per movie. and tyrese and luda definitely are not in that group.
to put it in perspective, established mainstream actors like seth rogan and james franco received $8M and $6M a piece for the interview. I don't give a shyt how much money F&F makes, tyrese and luda ain't seein that kinda money in a supporting role.
It was 500k to do what, 2-3 small scenes in a sequel to a hit movie?
Even if the movie was a complete flop, it would have no negative effect on him.
I'm sure he could've found time to film the 2-3 scenes while shooting that Steven Seagal/Morris Chestnut blockbuster.
