I woulda turned it down.. This is when vin left the franchise remember :usure: there is no way ja would know the franchise would rebound or hed be guaranteed more work ..luda just got lucky

See: lil bow wow :mjlol:
But he knew that Seagal/Chestnut pair would give him that boost:lolbron:

It was only like 3 scenes, it was in no way going to hurt his "career"

Tyrese is an interesting case tho.. because he be having the audiences ROLLING with his lines. Like, the theater crowd i was in was surprisingly tame and no-sold the Rock Bottom on Statham and a lot of other big spots/moments... but every time Roman had something to say the crowd erupted with laughter. He basically plays that late 90's Will Smith in MIB wise-cracking trope to a T, but without the actual heroics that would make ppl take the character (and him) more seriously.

Luda probably has the easiest role as it's pretty much just feeding off of the funny shyt Tyrese says and telling him to shut up. Certainly would've been easy money for Ja but like others said, i'm sure that jail thing would've made his stay short-lived regardless.

Where Eva Mendes at tho?

I remember reading she chose not to come back to the franchise. After her scene in the post-credits of 5 they basically put the Elena character in the role she would've had.

Pretty sure Ja was tripping then or now. :yeshrug: This was a time whn they had all the hits, and music made 'real' ( compared to other entertainment avenues, not my E-4 pay ) money.

He didn't even turn it down though, nikka wouldn't even return calls to say thanks but no thanks. Doing stuff like that and burning bridges if you're trying to come up in Hollywood is a good way to become....Ja Rule status:russ:

:mjpls: The franchise wasn't what it is now. They basically had to reinvent shyt after Tokyo Drift. The sequel was meh at best. Can't really blame him for balking.
I'm saying. John Singleton was at the helm when Vin Diesel wasn't even with the franchise when it was on shaky ground then and truth be told it was a shytty movie (2 Fast 2 Furious looked like some shyt that came on USA network) there was no guarantee Ja would even be included in the sequels. Some people turn down roles all the time (Will Smith turned down Neo role). Who's to say he even wanted to act back then. People look at the money and just assume you an idiot for not taking it. Some of yall don't remember Ja was making a ton of money back then (when records were actually selling) so 500K at the time to film for a month might've slowed down whatever he was doing back then .Like I said earlier this is all from John's perspective. I'd like to hear what Ja has to say about it.

Some people turn down roles all the time (Will Smith turned down Neo role).

An A list star turning down a big budget movie to do another big budget movie is different than someone trying to come up, refusing to respond to a director's call to reprise a role in a sequel, especially someone like John Singleton.

Who's to say he even wanted to act back then.

He was in a bunch of shytty movies around that time.

Some of yall don't remember Ja was making a ton of money back then (when records were actually selling) so 500K at the time to film for a month might've slowed down whatever he was doing back then .

Luda was in like 3 scenes, it wasn't gonna take a month for him to film that.

Id bet Luda in particular made more from this franchise than anything he's done. Music included. And Tyrese too. He's been in a lot of movies, but the majority of em were box office duds. Id guess they both make 8 figs for these flicks. At least a high 7figs.

man, there's only a handful of actors that make 8 figures per movie. and tyrese and luda definitely are not in that group.

to put it in perspective, established mainstream actors like seth rogan and james franco received $8M and $6M a piece for the interview. I don't give a shyt how much money F&F makes, tyrese and luda ain't seein that kinda money in a supporting role.

When studios do sequels, they're more generous w/ money to keep the cast together. Cameron Diaz was making like 8figs to do Shrek breh.

I wouldn't be shocked if Vin Diesel got like 15-25mil to do this. So i wouldn't be shocked if they gave Luda and Tyrese 5-10mil.

The interview didnt have this movie's budget. Plus Seth and Franco probably get guap from the digital sales amd dvd sales.

It was 500k to do what, 2-3 small scenes in a sequel to a hit movie?

Even if the movie was a complete flop, it would have no negative effect on him.

I'm sure he could've found time to film the 2-3 scenes while shooting that Steven Seagal/Morris Chestnut blockbuster.

man, I caught my wife watching that :trash: movie on cable the other day. that shyt was beyond awful.
