Ja Morant takes a shot at the media’s apparent MVP-bias for Jokic (“it’s obvious [who] they want”)

And the ironic thing about this whole discussion about “leading scorer on best team should win MVP”

The Jazz had the best record last year. Donovan Mitchell was by far their leading scorer. Out of the 100+ media members that voted, he did not appear on a single person’s ballot. Not only that but he also didn’t even make an All-NBA team. The Suns had the 2nd best record with Devin Booker as their leading scorer. He also didn’t get a single MVP vote and didn’t make All-NBA.

The point? There is no criteria, it’s all about narrative.

Where has this “push” for Jokic for MVP been ?

For the majority of the year they completely ignored him while he was putting up
Insane numbers

these media dudes have podcasts and have been “why is nobody talking about Jokic” while non stop campaigning for him to be MVP all year, Like they’re not the ones that decide the vote …. They’ve been lobbying for him OD since before the 2nd strawpoll…that’s two thirds of the season….from the people that actually vote, there’s been absolutely nothing quiet about his case for MVP….can’t work that unsung underdog angle two years in a row

all that and I can’t say he’s not having a MVP caliber season….just not good enough that he should win it over multiple other players with just as good of seasons with better records…

to me it’s obviously Giannis….from a narrative and individual excellence standpoint he should be running away with the vote like prime Heatles era Lebron the year after they won the chip…epic championship run followed up with being a top seed while having stats as impressive as anyone and a DPOY candidate…it’s almost disrespectful to me that he’s not front runner…he has the league’s crown right now but it should go to the 7th seed in a weak west cause of pretty analytics? Who won it last year before getting swept out the playoffs, which I bring up because playoff failure was used to as a reason to not consider Giannis again last year

How is the media biased for Jokic exactly? Even the year he won the MVP the hype was quiet

He’s not lying. There’s been an obvious Jokic push by the media that goes beyond the standard look what he’s doing. It’s almost like a collective effort to MAKE him the MVP.

:dahell: All I hear is Jokic "is the worst MVP ever"

Name names

MVP debates be getting people in their feelings forreal

Clearly, there are at least a few who are deserving but there can only be one so someone’s going to be left out

Arguing that Jokic doesn’t deserve to be MVP is weird

Arguing that Embiid doesn’t deserve to be MVP is weird

Arguing that Giannis doesn’t deserve to be MVP is weird

THE MEDIA LITERALLY
VOTES FOR THE AWARD.

Exactly

We really doing this thing where Jokic is some type of bum and not elite in every statistic category leading a team without it's two best players and injuries all year?

The Nuggets should a Pelicans record, but, Jokic does EVERYTHING.

My Pelicans just got screwed by the refs playing them, but, I see how good the bul is

BTW, Luka is the only white foreigner getting overhyped

Jokic and Embiid are both deserving of the enthusiasm they've generated. The dude getting played definitely ain't Devin fukkin Booker HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That honor goes to Giannis, and I don't know if it's because his game isn't aesthetically appealing to people or if Milwaukee's style of play bores fans, but he seems to be an afterthought despite having yet another absolute monster of a season.

If I had to fill out a ballot at this very moment it'd probably go:

Giannis
Jokic
Embiid
Morant

I will say Embiid has pretty much lead the MVP race most of the season. Hasn’t been until recently the push for Jokic instead which I believe Ja is referring too

As much as he is dominating on his team we can give up the MVP deuce dreams for Jokic, especially without Jamal

You’re penalizing him because he doesn’t have his number two? :dwillhuh: Make it make sense because I think it’s more impressive he’s been able to continue his greatness despite being without the Nuggets’ other top scorers.

I thought Embiid was the guy this year :yeshrug:

But then for whatever reason they made the last game between them for the MVP trophy for whatever reason so I dunno what the media is doing now.
