Dude is a good rapper but this shyt more like mixtape than an album. Showcasing rap skills not really depth or vision. The comparisons to Kendrick are only surface level. Kendrick strength has been inalong complete bodies of work with clear vision. JID ain't there yet.

You REALLY did not listen to this album. And if you did, talking about "surface level" it is clear you heard on a surface level with JID. Or you are the one guilty in comparing to Kendrick thinking JID is going to copy the same route AS Kendrick thematically and not JID doing JID.

But the theme throughout the album is about family. And not just blood related, but the idea of family in all definitions of it. It's about his journey and what SUPPOSED to be his final song for the album 2007, brought it all full circle. You hear a song like KODY BLU 31 and JID and his entire family singing their HEARTS OUT and paying tribute to his grandmother and you talk about it's a mixtape vibe without depth and vision.... YOU DID NOT LISTEN. You was too busy caught up with the different flows and rhyme schemes and Kendrick comparisons when there aren't any.

yea when bruh said the album had no depth with a song like sistaenum…I just:mjlol:

This album really was a testimonial of some sort and the storytelling is there. The introspection is there. The Kendrick comparisons are lazy imo. It’s also one of the few albums that takes you to the region that artist from. The feel, the slang, the production takes you there like Vince album takes you to Long Beach.

You nikkas need to stop coming into album threads waving a big ass sign that reads “I didn’t listen” while posting.

really solid project…this was my introduction to JID so i have no frame of reference for how this compares to his past projects…

every element that makes a great rap album are here…lyricism, flows, depth, storytelling, introspection, dope production, and a consistent but varied tracklist…

my only nitpick is I think there a few to many beat switches but that’s my own preference…I would’ve been cool wit the first 2 beats on Raydar and the first beat on Can’t Make You Change…even tho Yasiin’s verse was :ohlawd: on Stars i low-key wish he did something on that first beat…was hopin for somethin like Climb off Black on Both Sides…

not mad at brehs puttin this as their AOTY…think I’m still partial to Push’s album but that’s cuz ima sucker for luxury street rap…

This is rap for a real enthusiast. I've been waiting for this album since surround sound dropped. I didn't know jid but I knew 21. When I heard that track I knew this man was cooking up something special. This album hasn't met my expectations, it's exploded right past them :damn: :whew: :wow:

This album is fukking incredible. He really did his thing on here and I feel he really found his voice. I used to not even check for him because he sounded too much like Kendrick, but I don’t hear it on here. This is entirely JID
