solid project, its cultivated perfectly with his style of rap of being a somewhat rappity rap multi syllable/internals heavy rapper.

has that accessible to appeal to the rap heads and appeal to casuuals, and not just talking songs, but that applies to a single song in itself, if you know what I mean. where just in a song, its hip hop enough for the heads and digestable for casuual music listeners who never listened to JID or if you recommend him to people.

I expected more based on alot of reviews here… its not bad but just not amazing to me… he sounds like a value version of Kendrick… nothing really stood out

How tf this unstickied but that bs sccit posted is still up there.
It is crazy how you would think this would get more pages and not unstickied so fast.

I feel like I keep repeating myself this year on good hip hop releases.

This, Joey, Denzel, Vince, Lupe and Pusha should all be getting more mentions.

You REALLY did not listen to this album. And if you did, talking about "surface level" it is clear you heard on a surface level with JID. Or you are the one guilty in comparing to Kendrick thinking JID is going to copy the same route AS Kendrick thematically and not JID doing JID.

But the theme throughout the album is about family. And not just blood related, but the idea of family in all definitions of it. It's about his journey and what SUPPOSED to be his final song for the album 2007, brought it all full circle. You hear a song like KODY BLU 31 and JID and his entire family singing their HEARTS OUT and paying tribute to his grandmother and you talk about it's a mixtape vibe without depth and vision.... YOU DID NOT LISTEN. You was too busy caught up with the different flows and rhyme schemes and Kendrick comparisons when there aren't any.
I dont think the Kendrick comparisons are valid outside of voice that was my point. I said Jid is currently rapping rapping ...better than Kenny. But he hasn't made better music yet. He didn't get the theme across for the entire project fluidly.

However I will say this. If this is his debut it's better than any album Cole dropped until forest Hill drive. So in that regard he is doing quite well. I still would take Pusha for album of the year

I can’t stop listening to this album. Definitely moved into my top 5 releases of the year. JID’s flow is just water and smooth as fukk. I need him and Gibbs on a track just blacking out. Love the family theme of this and we get some truth and background which I always appreciate from rappers. Just an honest, raw, yet precise album.

Still bumping. Anyone got a link to 2007 so I can throw it at the end for a bonus skit
