Surprised he didn’t put a successor in place. That would’ve made more sense and kept the community aspect going.

If you talking machines Drake and Cole got the SAME machines as Kendrick... j Cole is with live Nation and JayZ

:russ:

Kendrick made that man tuck his whole Lil festival away. I hate Drake, but at least he put up a lil fight...J Cole so much of a BEAST on the mic but he told everybody that he didn't wanna play no more . I lost so much respect for that man that I can't even listen to his ARTISTS anymore, I fukked with them Nyggas too
The machines are not the same

Remember that Kendrick preaches black empowerment, but his machine only activates SPECIFICALLY when he's dissing other (more successful) rappers

Kendrick literally only trends when he disses people. He's a mid(at best) artist that has been elevated by the dominant society

They aren’t trying to lose that revenue. Makes sense.

But you can’t call it Dreamville without label / management / talent involvement. Not sure who they can bring on to make the needle move, especially since Cole is retiring.
They gonna transform this into Carolina's version of a SXSW or Coachella or Lollapalooza. Dreamville has already been one of the more popular hip hop-specific festivals since its inception. They are gonna capitalize on that momentum by making it an even bigger thing, from solely hip hop with Cole, to an all music thing. That's the vision...

My prediction is they continue with Dreamville in the name in some way, like "Dreamville Presents __________ Festival", or ______ Fest sponsored by Dreamville", something like that...

It's false news that Dreamville Fest is ending; its just the last one Cole is headlining. I always kinda knew it would continue in some form. Too much money and clout brought here becaise of it. And good for them for continuing it, its now a cultural staple and part of the city's identity here. I know people who make sure they go every year and it literally brings in people from every state as well as internationally. Last year had 104,000 attendees...

@Doobie Doo yall ever talk about this on your podcast, Dreamville's total impact on the city from an economic and cultural scale? I'm pretty sure yall made time to shyt on Cole 😆...
We talk about it every year cuz we broadcast Saturdays and our previous studio was about 2 miles from the ffest. Same shyt every year, the Internet is janky AF and the power grid starts causing the lights to tweak.
