It’s literally one of the biggest things that happens in this state.. just letting it go is stupid af… no matter how people feel about Cole or Dreamville
I knew it wasn't going anywhere 😆 it was November or December that they announced this would allegedly be "the last one". Never made any sense, nobody wants this shyt to end...

(Well, except the Kloset Klansmen, they were active on FB when the news this was the last one dropped. Mf's were all in the comments like "good, maybe now some real music can get a festival here" even though Raleigh has country and rock themed festivals too 🤣)...

But nobody else wanted this shyt to end, that news was the biggest fake news local story here in a minute. It's been a success at every single variable and metric, for the city, the region, and the state...

I'm pretty sure the long term vision will be turning it into Carolina's version of Coachella or SXSW, and with Dreamville staying on to guide and structure it, it's giving it credibility that it wouldn't have if they were trying something from scratch. It's gonna continue to be a success and if the leadership is right, they can make into something even bigger than it already is, and it's already one of the major hip hop-specific festivals...

Hopefully Petey Pablo still gets a chance to perform. He's on FB and he said he has never gotten an invite even though J Cole in his early days did a video clip dedicated to him. So since this is the last Dreamville and "Raise Up?" Might become official NC Hip Hop song this would be perfect time.

Sucks. Sure they could rebrand it as something something, but it was an authentic Hip Hop oriented festival and they probably about to bring in techno shiit and pop stars...basically it'll get watered down....we'll see :snoop:.

Yeah man that’s smart. Raleigh-Durham stay having dope music inspired events that I keep missing lol. I think a SXSW type thing would do well here. There’s so much underground and untapped talent here. They definitely should keep it going

They are keeping it and rebranding it as something else cuz the Dreamville brand ain't it no more.
I mean that could be true but that event is popular and brings mad money to the area

They gonna transform this into Carolina's version of a SXSW or Coachella or Lollapalooza. Dreamville has already been one of the more popular hip hop-specific festivals since its inception. They are gonna capitalize on that momentum by making it an even bigger thing, from solely hip hop with Cole, to an all music thing. That's the vision...

My prediction is they continue with Dreamville in the name in some way, like "Dreamville Presents __________ Festival", or ______ Fest sponsored by Dreamville", something like that...

It's false news that Dreamville Fest is ending; its just the last one Cole is headlining. I always kinda knew it would continue in some form. Too much money and clout brought here becaise of it. And good for them for continuing it, its now a cultural staple and part of the city's identity here. I know people who make sure they go every year and it literally brings in people from every state as well as internationally. Last year had 104,000 attendees...

Good synopsis...so a Carolina SXSW potentially.

:leon::lupe::whoo:

I was low key going in that direction but I stopped at the music part, but you right. Last one J Cole is headlining, but start of an even broader festival. Ok. Your explanation gives me hope. Rebirth of something broader.

That's what I'm sure the vision of it is. It's already among the most popular and attended straight up hip hop festivals, so the future outlook has to be aiming higher. I guess if you aimed to be the biggest hip hop festival solely, that could be an attainable goal. But that wouldn't be bigger than aiming for something like, the Southeast version of SXSW, Coachella, or Lollapalooza...

From here forward it'll really be about how Dreamville is managing it and who they bring in as partners to help them manage, what they want it to become. I think it could have even more tremendous success than it's already have, it's in an area of the country with nothing this big for quite some space. It could easily fill the void and become an internationally renowned event of its managed correctly!
They're going to gentrify the fukk out the festival.
You're probably right, but let's hope they don't stray too far from their roots. It's a win as long as they keep growing and don't just completely abandon their roots...

So Jermaine Cole doesn’t rap like a coli hotep with a white momma:skip:
I think he's relaxed on that over the years

Imo nothing J Cole has done could ever be worse than Kendrick calling himself drakes "biggest hater" on a track. He rapped that he hates the way Drake walks. Straight cornball behavior

And people let him get that off

He was referencing a DMX interview. :mjlol:

And yes, is walking straight into a battle and then walking straight back out is dastardly.
