Dudes having revisionist history when it comes to 4YEO. shyt was mid as hell and I remember the consensus being that it was a disappointment in the album thread. He left the two best joints off the album.
I know they weren't on the album officially but I added False Prophets, Everybody Dies and High for Hours to my my edit of the album and took out Folding Clothes and the She's Mine tracks. Album flows beautifully and has made 4YEO my favorite of all his albums.

Similar to how I will edit out 100 mil and Amari on my final cut of this album and I'll put in Lion King On Ice in because that was one of the joints I was expecting would be on the album

Your fan made joint wasn't the album though breh. What Cole released as the body of work was mid.

4YEO had a lot of problems

1. it was just a disappointing way to follow up your biggest album

2. the lead single used the same beat of a song that had been a hit record that entire year and Exchange was a much better record

3. Cole’s singing is really really bad on this project and there’s 3 songs that are straight singing

4. it’s just a boring album. Outside of Neighbors there’s no energy.

there is a reason why this album holds the record for biggest 2nd week drop off in music history

I think all his albums are dope.

He will be 6 times plat from Off-Season. I guess a lot of people love his "boring" ect music.

From the growth I've seen between KOD and OS I have no reason to believe he will be slowing down until his last album is made.

His only bad album is his debut and that has some joints and it was partly due to label issues

Nah I can’t blame the label for SS

The production on that album is really really bad and Cole has some really cringey hooks and bars

I love born Sinner but I can see why Non Cole stans wouldn’t like that album

I’d partially blame the label for Sideline Story because so many great tracks were pushed to the mixtape as they forced Cole to craft his album for radio+specifically demographics. Did Cole’s wack production hurt too? Yes.

Born Sinner was better but still a pedestrian album to me. Very cringe worthy bars and some weak beats again. That intro track with the “fakkit” lines...come on man. Eminem tier shyt.

I liked the first half of FHD but the latter tracks are kinda whatever. 4YEO is where I felt he finally got a consistent album, outside of Folding Clothes.
