Damn isn’t that fukking good :mjlol:

Humble is easily worse than anything on here

If J. Cole made a song like Love y’all would tear him up

Humble is probably one of the worst singles ever by a major artist. The beat is wack and cheesy and the lyrics are corny. Minus that and “Love” though, that album is nice and very much deserves the praise it gets.

I listen to J. Cole and I enjoy his music. Why is he being compared to Nas? Damian Lillard is a great basketball player. One of the best doing it now but should he be compared to Michael Jordan? That's what it's like comparing J. Cole to Nas. Being one of the best doing it at a certain time doesn't automatically make you legendary.

J. Cole isn't missing anything he's just not a legendary rapper and that's fine.

People are comparing him to Nas? I don’t see why. They're nothing alike.

I feel like he's missing a few things that would take him to the next level, but I still think he's a dope MC. Just not legendary, as you said.

The P4K review is on point and Alphonse Pierre is a good writer. I'd have bumped the score up to 7 or 7.5 but I just find Cole's music to be too self conscious in trying make "great" music, like there's this desperation to be considered legendary without the music to back it up. It rarely feels organic.

Like a good example to me is his lyrics on Let Go My Hand. He talks about not be a tough kid but winning some fights, losing some and it's just so generic to me. Like he's going for this personal reflective song but there's no personality to it. It feels forced and inauthentic.

That's my problem with him. He's a good artist who thinks he's a great artist.

your talking nonsense he is a great artist u just nitpicking

All of this is on point and true.

He's always seemed like he's trying to be something he's not on the level to be. I root for dude, but he just doesn't have an authentic feel to his shyt. He has no personality. Been saying this for years. Starting to see a lot of other people saying the same. He's a good artist, but it ends there. And surrounds himself with low-level talent that he's signed and his best friends who manage his career. So he's not around great artists are other people that he can really learn from and be pushed by. He's been pretty much on his own from the jump. But he wants to be viewed in a light that he hasn't earned because he's not in the same pocket as the other greats who popped up around the 2010's. A lot of dope MC's in that class left him behind.

Alphonse Pierre gave Lil Yachty a better score just a few weeks back. Nah...

The reviewer doesn't decide the score at P4k.

And it is retarded to compare arbitary scores between albums. Who gives a shyt, i'm sure you rate some albums higher than I would too, and vice versa. Doesn't mean i'm gonna totally dismiss all your other views.

Some people just don't fukk with Cole's music like that.

Ya'll can try and force into existence this album as a classic but we'll see how many people come back to this by the end of the year (or summer for that matter)

Fair point. If the other two guys sold 100k less than their previous album it would be a Coli topic. But those guys play the game (singles, videos, media, etc) and Cole doesn’t. Would this have done 300-350k if they dropped a real single and video before the album? Possibly.

I would this is how Cole’s team plays the game.

I think Coles sales are what you can expect for someone that doesn’t have a hit attached to a project.

hes 6 albums in too. Numbers should not be going up at this stage of his career

This is a good album.

This won’t be classic. How many true classics are there 12 years into someone’s career and 6 major releases deep.

It’s hard to make impactful music when we’ve heard so much from you
