Why isn't it a true classic?

You really putting GRODT on the level of albums like

The Chronic
Doggystyle
Illmatic
Ready to die
36 chambers
Low end theory
OB4CL

Etc

???

I’ll put it in the level of 400 Degreez, capital punishment, dah Shinin

They’re all classic, but there’s classics like dah Shinin and then there’s CLASSICS like 36 chambers

So what’s your take that everyone should agree with what you think the best album is?
What if an Asian thinks Jins album is the best ever or some midget thinks it’s a Bushwick Bill album? Are they not entitled to think that because ReDefinition on the internet can’t stamp his seal of approval?

I hate you intentionally obtuse mufuggas. Let me just get that out the way. There are objective measures that can be applied even to something subjective like art. Now to humor you, if an Asian told me Jin had the best album of all time I would ask the Asian, how familiar he is with music. How many albums has he listened to to form a comparison. On what basis does he measure quality? Lyrics? Production? Structure? Arrangement? If he could proivde an intelligent argument, cool. If his only response is "because its my opinion"...then he clearly is just talking to be talking.

Cool. I think that Heltah Skeltah's Magnum Force is a better album than 50's debit.

All those albums you listed got released during a 5 year period it captured an era

Can you post

Any classic albums post 2003?

And I'd put LAD and N4L above all those albums you listed

I honestly can’t think of much released post 03 that compares. Personally, I’ll take TM101 over GRODT. IMHO TM101 has better replay value, and better production, and has more influence.

Maybe GKMC…

I don’t love GRODT as much as most on this site, I like several songs on the massacre more than anything on GRODT not named many men.

When you’re talking *all time great albums in hip hop*, whatever your discussing will inevitably be compared to the foundational pillars of the genre released 1988-1996/97.

It’s not absurd to say LAD is better than what I listed. I personally disagree, and I’ve always liked RTD much more than LAD, but you can probably guess that I prefer the 94-96 sound over all else.

Never seen N4L listed that high, especially above the chronic…but to each their own. I’ll give it a spin tmrw off the strength bc I haven’t heard it all the way thru in a few years.

I mean it’s his opinion. It’s one of the most best/important albums in hip-hip history. Glad to see one of my goats in 50 getting his flowers.
