Match was aight for what it was. Io didn't get a whole lot of offense in (I think they cut to commercials while she was on offense) but at least she didn't job on her debut or anything. Hopefully those two can have a rematch down the line at a PLE with some higher stakes, cuz they did like 1% of what they could do.


The new gear tho I think I posted earlier in this thread that she should get her thighs out again but I didn't think it would actually happen

She already spent 10 years sawdusting herself for ~1500 salarymen at Korakuen hall

She's already one of the most decorated joshi of all-time, Stardom's GOAT, etc

so going back to Japan at this point couldn't really enhance her legacy. Sure, she could have insane matches with Utami and take a bunch of crazy neck bumps, but as a fan I'm glad she isn't doing that stuff anymore.


WWE is the best place for her to be right now. Make some highlight reel moments and get that WWE money.

So WWE can't own Io Shirai. If she wanted to use Io Shirai on main she likely had to give up the trademark rights to it. Not sure how people don't understand this by now. WWE wants something they can own and market off of but she also wants something she can use outside of WWE if need be.

Those two have had those names locked up for way longer. In the end you and me don't know the details of any of this. Maybe she didn't want to go that route with it. Maybe she doesn't actually own Io Shirai (not her real name). We don't know the details. Just accept it as is and move on. It's just funny to me people still get butt hurt over name changes. Hell they may have even changed it for dumbass Americans to actually understand and pronounce her name.

I fully believe this is the biggest reason for the change. They’ve often presented stuff to audiences as remedial as possible, so it makes sense they’ve almost give her a very phonetically spelled name.
