Seek a therapist. Stop drinking and smoking. Do at least 30 minutes of exercise. Do things for other people. Meditate and do things that you bring you joy, peace and happiness. DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF.. Get a good nights rest and limit how much time you spend in your bed.

my best advice is exercise and unplug. our brains ain't meant to be bombarded with all the information we get daily.

don't do any alcohol or drugs for a while as that just makes matters worse.

see a therapist if you're ready and willing. it's not for everybody.

I went through something similar at the end of 2017

Smoking would just make it worse, I had to cut that off for a while

I've been lifting regularly for like a decade now so that also helped

But the main thing I did was cut off all the negative information that I was allowing to enter my mind

Just getting it out is a start. The world is hard enough for black men. It's amazing how many of us can even get through day to day. Your mind needs to be doing double time.

I would suggest therapy and Hiking or a long walk (seriously nature is a severely underrated way to clear the mind) I was surprised last time someone posted about hiking how many brehs on here do it and see the benefits.

Sometimes coming to the Coli, some of these topics will make you think nikkas are back in physical bondage but that's only a reality if you believe it is.

I know that shyt be sounding corny but energy is real and what you focus on will appear. If you focus your energy on negativity it will show up in your life and vice versa. They wage war on us with TV(programs) they know we are like computers and whatever you download on to your human hard drive (Brain) will run you. This is why sometimes nikkas neg me and call me a CAC because they associate free thinking with c00n shyt but trust me when I tell you that you need to create your own reality. 8 years ago all I did was watch negative shyt on YouTube all day and I was mad and wanted the world to end because I felt like the world was about to fall apart any day. So much time and a shift in consciousness has helped me. Might start a thread on free thinking and shifting uninstalling the programs they feed us.

Hiking. Go out into nature breh... for thousands of years we’ve been outside but now we’re confined to these cages completing pointless tasks and it fukks with us on a primal level.

So... I been dealing with depression ever since I was 13 and it's been on and off ever since. One thing that definitely helped me at one point was moving to another city/state. Especially if where you're at is currently somewhere full of negativity and a past you're trying to forget or move passed.

2016 and 2017 were my worst years, especially after the passing of my closest friend who I'd be able to talk with about everything. Things will eventually get easier if you don't lose focus and do things like:
*Not show up to work
*Stop working and quit your job
*Showing up late to work
*Doing a poor job at work

Main thing you wanna do is not lose your job cuz that will make things 10x worse. That's the main thing you wanna focus on no matter how much you feel like not getting out of bed cuz having to search for a new job while being depressed will be an even bigger challenge than what you're going through now. If anything look for a new job while you're still working if you have to.

And lastly, unplug from media, period. In all reality we should only be focused on our local news and surroundings. Think about it... You might have been having a good day today, but then you turn on the news and hear about another mass shooting or a police officer killing an unarmed black man and now your whole day is ruined cuz it put you in a bad mood. shyt probably happened in a whole different state or country but here you are tripping about it. Why? Bad shyt happens everywhere, much worse and daily. You gonna trip over every death that happens every day? Of course not. So why worry about the ones the news decides to air? Can't do nothing about it. Can't control it. So why even entertain it? It's insanity to entertain the news every day especially when it's mostly negative and it doesn't necessarily effect you. The news will never get everything, so even the little that it does get, doesn't really matter since you'll never get the full grasp of everything that happened today or yesterday or tomorrow.

That's why I recently decided to stop following politics so much. All I can do is vote, but otherwise I have no real control over what happens in this country and etc. I'll just read a headline every now and again to stay updated, but I'm not sitting on YouTube or watching TV for details. So moral of the story is only focus on what you can control and what effects you.

Just last week, I felt led to delete my hip hop albums and play games that are not too dark. Next thing I know that I felt a little bit at ease since most of the media that I consume was on a negative aspect. It's no different from the food you eat. I keep lecturing my son of how much fast food changes your mood and etc, unless it's heavily moderated.

Bottom line, its all in moderation. When you watch a violent movie, switch it up with a 1940s romantic flick. Listen to trap music, bump some jazz to balance it out. It's all in how you want to go by in life.

High artificial sugar consumption can increase levels of depression and it is bad enough that fatty unhealthy foods are seen as comfort foods.I avoid reading the news and I also avoid negative media like porn or horror films.
Looking at greenery or wild life friendly parks help a lot.Connecting with nature is very important.
