How the fukk does Ronda get an immediate shot when she decides to come back :dahell:

Dana just said Bisping will face Henderson in Manchester because that's what the fans and Bisping want :stopitslime: I hope Dan knocks him the fukk out again, and if he does it in England it'll be the ultimate ether.

Jacare has to be like :why:

If Hendo somehow wins though :skip:

Believe it or not, some of these MMA fighters were pro boxers. A lot of people underestimate the threat of the takedown - it changes the whole dynamic of the stand-up game. That's why you see a lot of these overly wide stances in MMA fights. The fighters have to sprawl at a moment's notice and a traditional boxing stance would make that very difficult. The problem is that the sport is not yet evolved enough to be fluid. It's still a combination of separate things, which is why it looks so sloppy a lot of the time. Just imagine if boxing suddenly changed its rules to where knees, elbows, kicks, and throws were allowed - it would look ridiculous. That's exactly what Muay-Thai is, though, and it looks just fine because that's how it's taught from the beginning. As time goes on, the separate styles used in MMA will evolve to where they seamlessly blend into one another, and that's when it will become a truly elite sport.
Some of these guys have had a handful of boxing matches or one off fights but outside of Holm none of these folks have legitimate pro boxing backgrounds, and it shows in their footwork and how they setup their punches and out combos together. Someone like JJ definitely could have been a pro boxer without the kickboxing element added to it, her footwork and combination work is ridiculous for a female, a majority of the men could learn from watching her.

Like who? there isn't a single person in the UFC that could be a top 10 boxer in any division.
List of mixed martial artists with professional boxing records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Holly Holm was a pretty good boxer. Nobody was talking about top 10, though. You're a boxing fan, right? If so, you know that footwork is everything in boxing. You should also be able to clearly see that boxing footwork/stance does not work in MMA because of the added elements of wrestling and kicking. Like I said, MMA is still a young sport that's constantly evolving, and eventually every discipline that it's composed of will be modified to be MMA specific. There will be MMA specific striking, wrestling, and footwork. Twenty years from now Anderson Silva, GSP, Fedor, and even Jon Jones will look as clueless and outdated as Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie look now. We're in the stone age - it's unpredictable because it's unrefined.

:ld: I feel like if there's someone that trains at boxing first (and excels to the point being a pro-boxer is a real thing) and focuses second on takedown defense, they'd probably be an absolute monster. The "striking" is so primitive to be honest.
This is kind of where Stephen Thompson is at, master at karate/kickboxing, and now he's added takedown defense to his game and he looks like he will be the next welterweight champ. His standup is on another level from most other UFC fighters.
