I wonder if something happened in Tate's personal life. When she walked out it looked like she was sad and about to cry :lupe:
She nearly missed weight, wasn't smiling at the weighing, looked nervous, and trying to psych herself out...VERY different compared to when she thought Holm...When she said she would be Holm, she was so calm that I thought she was just saying sh@t to be saying sh@t...

Something went wrong during her training camp...

Miesha should take the Gina Carano route at this point and there wouldn't be any shame in her doing that. At least she won the title and fought for many years, but it's clear she was just lucky to be there tonight.

:ld: I feel like if there's someone that trains at boxing first (and excels to the point being a pro-boxer is a real thing) and focuses second on takedown defense, they'd probably be an absolute monster. The "striking" is so primitive to be honest.
Believe it or not, some of these MMA fighters were pro boxers. A lot of people underestimate the threat of the takedown - it changes the whole dynamic of the stand-up game. That's why you see a lot of these overly wide stances in MMA fights. The fighters have to sprawl at a moment's notice and a traditional boxing stance would make that very difficult. The problem is that the sport is not yet evolved enough to be fluid. It's still a combination of separate things, which is why it looks so sloppy a lot of the time. Just imagine if boxing suddenly changed its rules to where knees, elbows, kicks, and throws were allowed - it would look ridiculous. That's exactly what Muay-Thai is, though, and it looks just fine because that's how it's taught from the beginning. As time goes on, the separate styles used in MMA will evolve to where they seamlessly blend into one another, and that's when it will become a truly elite sport.
