It's time to admit Game of Thrones has surpassed Breaking Bad, The Wire and The Sopranos

If you take away the budget and production value Fame of Thrones is a corny show on the same level as Sons of Anarchy and Power. And I like both of those shows but they are glorified soap operas

People have been getting fooled by British accents since forever

Actually, now that I think about it, Thrones is on the exact same level as House of Cards. Fancy looking shows that are full of flaws...

I even see some militants in here pointing out how many white people are in the cast and someone a couple post up just said we letting british accents fool us :dead: some of you are just miserable people jesus

lol how does that make me miserable I watched 5 seasons of this show, it just wasn't that good. And yes a bunch of British accents will make shytty writing sound like Shakespeare (he was British and his name is synonymous with great writing, see how it works?). Its not a "militant" thing. Plenty of black people watch this show, but that doesn't make it great...

2 years ago everyone said Breaking Bad was the greatest show ever. 7 years ago everyone said Lost was the GOAT show. Its cool ya'll are having fun in the moment, but we're allowed to have differing opinions...

This.

Game of Thrones is about shock value and cinematography. They spend a ton of money producing it and then fill it with as much sex, violence, and shocking character deaths as possible. It's closer to Walking Dead than it is to those icons of television. The plot depth and long-term character development isn't anything compared to Sopranos, The Wire, or Breaking Bad.

Then again, on a forum with hundreds of WWE stans....
The whole goal in Game of Thrones currently, seems to be female empowerment, and "breaking the internet" moments.

My Opinion of Top Tier Shows- in no order in particular
Game Of Thrones
The Wire
Breaking Bad
Mad Men( Not for Everyone)
The Shield
The Sopranos

I'm a Giant Fan of the Wire and it blew my mind when I watched it and I proceeded to think about the show after I saw it like nothing else in that time but any one saying The Wire is perfect or has no flaws are fukking crazy , Season 2 ( a season I didn't think was as horrible as everyone says as a individual season but compared to season 1 Season 3 and Season 4 , Season 2 is trash and Season 5 is so baddd is shocking when you compared to the previous brilliance that came before it. Season 1, 3 and 4 are God Tier but anyone arguing that season 2 and 5 are great respectfully are ignoring the flaws of the series even though the greatness of the Wire puts it up there in Top tier shows

The Sopranos is a great fukking show and I recognize the brilliant writing on the show but I believe that unless u saw the sopranos live when it was running in its heyday , the impact this show has on you as a viewer is not the same as if someone just bingewatched the show after the fact(myself included) but the Sopranos is a heavy flawed show with tons of wasted episodes involving especially the final seasons which hurt the overall quality of the show in my opinion even thought I still think it's great but the ending is so polarizing that it cheapin the overall impact the show had on me
Game of Thrones- No other form of Media or Entertainment has wrapped me up as much as Game Of thrones , where I get excited just talking about the episodes afterward and looking up theories and background information as well as trying to predict what's coming next . a bad episode of Game of thrones is soo mucher better than good episodes of good shows so the quality that's seen on this show is top tier and how many seasons of quality this show has given us top tier with season 1-4 and season 6 being all time greats and season 5 its weakest season still had so many memorable scenes, episodes and dialogues that its weakest season it's still notable , is it perfect no some storylines don't payoff well( arya no bravvos im particular and Sansa's story in season 5) and some episodes are meandering and go nowhere especially in season 5 but the amount of God Tier season are unmatched in my eyes, Season 1-4 and season 6. I respect some of ya opinion but there is soo much nonsense in this thread its jarring but since this is the Coliii:troll: Its expected

100% agree with the points about The Wire, something I brought up earlier in this thread. I recently re-watched the show even before this thread started (comes with Amazon Prime membership) and as mentioned season 2 and 5 are definitely a blemish. Far from a excellent seasons. If people want to say Game of Thrones had weak seasons (an opinion I don't agree with), yet don't acknowledge the two weaker seasons of The Wire, then there's already bias.

Which leads to another argument people want to blame Game of Thrones for, it's pacing. But again, there are even more fast forward moments on The Wire. You'll get a great scene featuring Avon, Bodie, Marlo, Stringer, etc. to be hit by 15 minutes of unnecessary political story that could have been covered in half the time.

People want to talk endings, but season 5 ended in probably the most BS type of way with McNulty faking a killing spree.

Again, love both shows. The Wire is a top 2 drama to me no question. But Game of Thrones is the best TV show I've seen, taking into account any genre. In terms of pure enjoyability, I can make an argument to watch Married... with Children (GOAT comedy) over The Wire, and that's not a diss. But can't say I'd watch it over Game of Thrones the majority of the time.

Yea we are and im open to yours since you say you saw every season of GOT. but anyone that just dismisses the show because its mostly white with british accents and also love the wire that much more because it has a majority black cast...is a fukking idiot and shouldnt have an opinion on the matter....thats all im trying to say, we got plenty of those in here

The culmination of this season probably inched it up to the top spot for me as well...don't know if I've ever been as fully into the backstory and lore of a show as this one. ..I've watched episodes then been up till 3am after falling into some neverending nerd rabbit hole about the obscure family history of some random house and how it ties into the context of what I just watched...perfect mix of character development, political intrigue, top tier big budget movie quality action scenes, random titties, insanely vast world building. ..I'm waiting for the series to end for a rewatch, and that'll be the ultimate test as I've watched all my other favorite shows multiple times front to back already (mightve watched the wire 4 times in all)...I hope we get at least one spinoff prequel series and one feature length movie from it

I do wanna say this tho, true detective season 1 can match up with any of these shows best season.

Who cares? Why do multiple people feel the need to interject with an irrelevant footnote like True Detective because of one 6 episode season? (A season that didn't end well and that featured uncredited plagiarism as its best dialogue)

TD season 1 should not become some sort of untouchable legend, because in reality it was 2 classic episodes sandwiched between some other good TV. It wasnt untouchable, and on a whole it was not even necessarily better than other recent seasons:

Leftovers S2
Hannibal S2
The Knick S1
Utopia both seasons

Its a disservice to all timer shows like The Wire and GOT to even mention a flash in the pan like True Detective in the same thread
