Game of Thrones is about shock value and cinematography. They spend a ton of money producing it and then fill it with as much sex, violence, and shocking character deaths as possible. It's closer to Walking Dead than it is to those icons of television. The plot depth and long-term character development isn't anything compared to Sopranos, The Wire, or Breaking Bad.


Then again, on a forum with hundreds of WWE stans....

As someone whos watched every single season of the wire,got,bb,and the sopranos 3x each (shiiiiit the wire at least 5 times each)

im going to safely say

Game of Thrones

Everything from the story,casting,acting,score,cinematography is top notch. Theres plenty of character developmemt (jamie,arya,the hound,theon,sansa,jon) and the plot is top fukking notch, yea the books gave them the outline + building blocks to play with but we all know by s2 they started straying off.

GOT also has the most blockbuster style episodes that have never been done on tv "baelor", "blackwater", "rains of castemere" etc. Then theres more levels to the greatness when you look at the production side of things, the sets and costumes, the fact that they shoot in 3 diffrent countries at the same time during filming,the cgi, the props etc


Season 6 and episodes 9 + 10 got everybody feeling like its the GOAT but with good reason, those 2 episodes combined couldve easily been a movie and in my opinion it was television at its finest, that was Afukking1 and i think its a guarantee that thrones is gonna clean house at that emmys and golden globes after that

The wire and every other show mentioned set the bar for quality TV but game of thrones took it to another level, sundays during GOT season have been feeling like movie night for a couple years already, im with the OP thrones got the #1 spot

The sopranos ended on a bad note for me. I'm still in love with Boardwalk Empire even though that one ended too soon also. Game of thrones has overtaken the wire, breaking bad, lost, and the walking dead a long ass time ago for me.

If you take away the budget and production value Fame of Thrones is a corny show on the same level as Sons of Anarchy and Power. And I like both of those shows but they are glorified soap operas

People have been getting fooled by British accents since forever

Thrones has the advantage there having been based on a book that weaved all those stories. Makes BB and the wire even better (still haven't made it thru the sopranos) being that they built their world entirely in the show, it wasn't lifted from 1000's of pages of books

Big Wire fan but a lot of the main dudes are based on real life people from Baltimore - obviously the books flesh GOT out a bit more but both somewhat based on source material.

That being said I have the Wire down as the goat but GOT running it close now we getting near the end game. Will probably surpass once it finishes as I can't see them dropping the ball with how it ends - too much riding on it in terms of critical acclaim and money. Plus show runners have always had the end goal in sight.

Sopranos seasons 1 to 3 is probably the greatest TV ever (and the father to this shyt) but 4 to 6 range from great to mediocre to trash.

fukk all that, only people that should have an opinion is people that watched and observed the story for what it is and judging from the comments i read more than half of ya need to gtfo

I even see some militants in here pointing out how many white people are in the cast and someone a couple post up just said we letting british accents fool us some of you are just miserable people jesus
