I’m not pumped for avengers vs X-Men I never got into it as a kid. I’d rather they build the mutant world up with some movies.

How does Fox have episode 4 anyway?
I think Lucas sold it to fox in exchange for merchandise rights of SW
and they've had it since then.
Because Lucasfilms was a small studio at the time so Fox financed the original Star Wars movie. In return for the millions of dollars they invested, they got permanent distribution rights for that movie.
Of course all that changed for the other episodes since George Lucas was able to finance them mainly from the profits he generated because of licensing and merchandise.
