Going to write this as a lifelong Milwaukeean and former resident of the Sherman Park neighborhood. I grew up where everything went down (literally around the corner) and visited frequently until the last six months or so. Just a few points to maybe cut through some noise. Or, maybe not.

Off rip, on Sylville Smith's record - if you're arguing for or against the dude based on his record, use this site:
wcca.wicourts.gov

I've seen the Milwaukee County Municipal Court records page (which will usually just display traffic/minor violations) or memes being used as a backdrop for discussion. Neither one makes either side's argument look good. Peep that link above (that covers most, if not all, serious and minor violations), think for yourself, and take it from there.

Agents in Sherman Park? Nah, not likely. It's an area of hard working middle-class folks, some lower-class hard working folks and then some of the lesser elements that are born out of the city being so fukked up. Most of the people there give a fukk about the community and genuinely look out for each other. What makes it so fukked up here? It's mostly a strong (and lengthy) history of segregation/redlining, which begat serious poverty, which begat other issues like teenage pregnancy (at one point, Milwaukee was at the top or near the top in this category for some time), crime (obviously), shytty public schools, high dropout rate in those schools, a lack of an established black middle class (one of the most underrated factors here, in my opinion) and a litany of other issues which contributed to this cauldron that just bubbled over. If someone really wanted to foment a true revolution, or get the attention of the stringpullers, they would have gone west a few minutes and started shyt in Washington Heights (where the mayor resides) or Tosa.

David Clarke? He's a loudmouth c00n and living, breathing lawn jockey, but doesn't have as much power here as some might think. His office patrols the freeway and county parks mostly. If you want to follow closely, pay attention to the next moves of the bytch-made governor (Scott Walker), Tom Barrett (nice dude and usually means well, but perpetually looks out of his element), and Ed Flynn (head of the pigs). Basically, if Barrett and Flynn can't hold this shyt together, Walker (probably more so for appearance's sake than any real concern) will send in the Guard (at Flynn's request). That probably won't end well.

If you take issue with the reaction here in relation to the person killed, I'd say for every Sylville Smith, there's a Frank Jude or Dontre Hamilton. For that O'Reilly's or BMO Harris (bank) that got torched and put our people out of jobs, there's the BP (not owned by us) whose owners bucked at someone that looks like you. Would I advocate burning down Sherman Park? Probably not; I'm not sure it will even amount to a pyrrhic victory. But, I understand.

:salute::salute::salute:Couldn't have said it anybody.

Can't fault the officer in this situation :yeshrug:

Also with the way things are going you gotta be a true idiot trying to run from cops if you're black.

Nothing positive comes from us being non complaint. You're playing a hand with odds HEAVILY favored towards the cops :francis:

Agree to some degree, still it is necessary to point that out considering the argument that Black communities are better served when policed by Black officers. Which is something I agree with, especially if the officer is from that community, or at least a real part of it fabric. I'm still gonna wait for more facts to come out on this one cuz I have a feeling that investing emotions on this incident is gonna leave me disappointed.
I gotta disagree with you on that because if more black officers and just officers in general stood up around the country and said : "hey we have some bad officers amongst us but the majority of us are good who just wanna protect and serve". Then cops could get more credit. But that "blue wall of silence" runs deep.

Also another thing about black officers is why do you think a lot of big departments around the country have black and latino unions. Because dating back to the 70s blacks cops were being mistreated, passed over for promotions, and not getting raises at the same price as their white counterparts so they unionized from the department.

Some black officers understand systemic racism in the departments but then some of these black officers are the biggest c00ns you will ever see. See the c00n officers see the white officers as their "brothers" but the BROTHAS don't understand that their "brothers" will shoot them dead like any other black man if they didn't have on that uniform.

Again with so many police departments you have no level of transparency with them. The DA on all criminal cases that go to trial cannot prosecute the suspect without officers testimony, when the DA is up for reelection it's the police departments and their unions funding their campaigns. So how can any reasonable person believe that when it comes to officers that the DA would be hard on them like any regular citizen.

Internal affairs is a joke and they only go after officers who are making money illegally, they don't give a damn about blacks and other minorities being killed. From state by state to department to department, the system is broken and there way too many conflicts of interests.

“They knew each other:” Sister of Sylville Smith says officer who shot her brother was no stranger

MILWAUKEE -- We are hearing more from the sister of Sylville Smith, the man who was fatally shot by a Milwaukee police officer on Saturday, August 13th. In a FOX6 News exclusive, the sister reveals the previous connection between her brother and the officer.

Milwaukee police are not releasing the name of the officer who shot Smith, saying threats have been made against him.

Sherelle Smith says that officer is no stranger to her family.

"The boy knew my brother personally from high school. They knew each other. You knew exactly how my brother was and you shot and killed him," Smith said.

During the interview with FOX6 News, Smith said she is skeptical of the ongoing investigation, adding that if body camera footage shows her brother holding a gun, she still will not believe the officer was justified in firing his weapon.

"If my brother did have his gun in his hand, why he didn't shoot back? If he's gonna go out, why not go out with a fight? Why not go out with a big bang?" asked Smith.

As for the unrest that has followed the shooting of Sylville Smith, his sister condemns the looting and burning that has happened.

"Violence is never the key though, I'm not saying that. I don't want anyone to be violent," Smith said.

Smith also struck a somewhat ominous tone.

"If we don't have answers, we're gonna find them and we're gonna find them our way. We're not find them y'all way no more. We're not gonna compromise no more," Smith said.

At the same time, Smith called for unity.

"I invite any color, any gender, any race, any age to come have fun with us. Come to our parades or come support our barbecues or our rallies or our stop the violence things, you know. It seems like we're so segregated. And it's for nothing. It's for nothing," Smith said.

A Milwaukee police source confirms the officer involved in this shooting incident did attend Pulaski High School with Sylville Smith.

The decision to release body camera footage from the shooting rests with the Wisconsin Department of Justice -- which has not yet indicated when that video will be made public.
