Because in theory, they are in competition.
According to a post i read yesterday, 99.9% of dudes ain't about shyt....now that leaves .1%
Now .1% of the male population is roughly 153,000, so 153,000 men are considered good men.
Ok, so with that number, you have to consider that at least a quarter of those men are fat, or good guys, or some other type of man that it's been found that women don't particularly care for. Which leaves a rounded up 115,000.
That leaves you with 157,244,385 women vying for the love and affection of 115,000 men that are considered "desirable". That would create a cutthroat, hazardous environment.
I hope you're not referring to my post. I was speaking in hyperbole about on-line dating sites. Not about men as a whole.

My point wasn't that it's not true that women see each other as competition, it was that it would be far reaching to expect a woman to come in here and honestly answer why they see other women as competition, as is asked in the original post.
I don't compete with other girls, I love women too much. If a guy chooses someone over me that's because that's what je wanted to do. Knocking a sister down for his attention won't do me any good.
But yes women do largely see each other as competition. As for myself, I have never fought a girl for a guys attention.

This. Chicks are cool with one another when it's apparent they're in the same boat in the middle of the ocean going nowhere in particular. That's why you see so many of them have little to no issue with having an attractive homegirl. That chick may look good but she's broke and has a wack job an thus can't advance herself in life, so you keep her around
But the second that same homegirl gets a good dude, pregnant and is upgrading herself somehow, the shyt changes because suddenly she's instantly leaving you behind. Hence why you'll see an attractive chick rolling with Precious-class looking friends who will NEVER be on her level and aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
