That’s not acceptable to me. The average casual self proclaimed hip hop fan should know at least 20-25 groups from the 80’s.
Even in the 90s i didnt know a single soul beside myself maybe 2 others whoever went back into the 80s to dig. They didnt even go past 95. Most casual hip hop fans got like 10 rappers they like and ignorant of everything else in the genre.

i like parrish over erick solo tho

This was the only thing I disagreed with, from your post.

Parrish's solo albums were damn near depressing. Not only the production, but he just seemed off and like his soul was snatched out of his body or some sh*t. E was even more charismatic than before, he got better on production and he had all the legendary features, etc. I remember being surprised at how wack Parrish was solo. He had like 2-3 joints I could listen to on his first couple of solos.

Erick ended up being in his prime on No Pressure and Double or Nothing. Those are both classics for me. Those Parrish albums are wild forgettable.

I was listening to their tapes a while back (Business As Usual, Business Never Personal and a few others) and they were sampled like crazy! They are legends and I agree severely underrated by many, they had classics! Crossover, Big Payback, Strictly Business, Headbanger, You Gots To Chill, Please Listen To My Demo and a ton even on their later albums when they came back after years off! I need to go back and get all their CD's including their last out of business. I love EPMD.

parrish kept it dirty. he kept everything epmd the whole time, minus 1. erick cleaned it up eventually...not bad i just liked the rugged shyt a whole lot better

forgettable is right, you forgot. because he came in hot on shade business. a lot hyper than most of his epmd verses

still ride around to his 2nd album sometimes

Eh. I prefer sh*t like "Swing It Over Here", "Hostile", "Stay Real", "Payback II", and the whole second Erick album over everything P was doing.

Erick's production was funk-personified and just much better and a higher quality than what Parrish had going on. I was rooting for Parrish, and copped both his first two albums and just couldn't get into anything. He really sounded like he didn't have direction after the breakup. I still play "Rugged N Raw" because I like what Agallah did with the beat, but that's the only track Parrish had in that 2-3 year span that I bothered to still f*ck with.

E became a star after the breakup. Parrish kinda flew under the radar. But '92-'96, Erick was everywhere and doing production for everyone. You had to almost feel bad for Parrish.

OH I'M HYPED.

OH SHEIT!!!

I forgot how much I loved rhis record.

Album was my first compact disc I ever bought. In my Aiwa that replaced my ol boom box. That was stolen from the crib during a break in. On Xmas I got My Aiwa and rhe only cd player in the house at the time.

It took forever for me to like cd's tho. Tape was just better to me.
I did not have a cd for a long ass time after that.

This album tho.
Oh I spun the hell out of this album.
