I agree with you but I think some people say the wages were never meant to support an adult. However they can supplement a high schooler who wants money outside of their parents

The issue is that the minimum wage was created to support an adult. There wasn't supposed to be a such thing as full time jobs that put people into poverty. There shouldn't be jobs that rely on government welfare programs to exist.

If they want to make the argument that these jobs are only for school kids then those businesses shouldn't be open until 5pm!

Whether they get a scholarship or not, you don't have to go to college to make a living. Either take student loan debt or go elsewhere

All I see you doing is making excuses. My brother works at Buffalo Wild Wings and starred at $10/hr. He's now at $19/hr as a manager and now looking to move up again. Do better.

My question to you is, how are these fast food workers not embarrassed at where they work? Who wants to flip burgers in their 30s? I know I was embarrassed working at Walmart, nikkas was clowning me, so I did what I had to do to get up outta there.
Why do you assume I am talking about myself? I would be broke if I was making your brother's money. Who cares what you do for work, you don't need pride in your work you just need to make a liveable wage. The fact that you think people should be dead or homeless because you don't approve of their job is psychopathic to me.

Those kids are most likely living at home if not with roommates.

When have those jobs ever paid the bills in the history of the U.S.?

there are a million+ homeless teens and there are a lot of parents who refuse to financially support their children once they turn 18 years old.:comeon:

People in the 50's 60's 70's and 80's absolutely did live off fast food wages working full-time! :gucci:

they could pay rent without a roommate or buy starter homes. you have to understand something people did not have credit back then like they do today. the cost of living sky-rocketed while wages stagnated..

Six years earlier, Matt had taken a Greyhound bus to Bradford from Tacoma, Wash., to visit a woman he met while playing a video game called “Second Life.” The woman turned out to be married. Now, Matt, 32, lived with her, her husband and another developmentally delayed woman in a rotting brown and yellow two-story rental, which had no working furnace, black mold and bedbugs. Matt was the only one in the house with a job, and they had all come to depend on his salary to survive.

Its a maturity thing. It takes some folks longer than others. I think we have this nonesense drilled into our heads as kids that some people are smart while others are not. Few people connect the dots and realize that smart people(with exception of the autistic) are the result of time+effort. And just because you didnt put in the effort in middles school+highschool; doesnt mean you cant do it as an adult.

Once this realization clicks, you see random sht occur like a single mom, whom even her friends would consider dumb, learning pharmacology and organic chem to get her bachelors in nursing. You see stuff like 30yr old non-traditional biz/humanity graduates shooting for med school later in life.

You may even see my very favorite one. One of my college jobs was on some random dock, load/unloading sht. With the exception of us college students who were milking the flex hours, everyone there would be stereotypically bottom of the barrel. I'll never forget when one of the dock-hands, a dude named Julius, convinced himself that he could become a pilot. We laughed at the time, but one day it just clicked for breh. Little by little we saw him pick up math books for the first time and even study aeronautical instruments.

Now that same breh is flying cargo for UPS, spitting game to other dock-hands about how they can leave their lot in life.:wow:

So @Bossino , i disagree . America isnt filled with stupid people; its just that they havent matured enough to put in time/effort to do better. Unfortunately, ive noticed this really only clicks for late bloomers when they are being crushed under the weight of kids, divorce, and or family tragedy. And These are all things the same person was capable of doing before crisis.

In fact, as i type this; i realize that i kinda agree that these mcD gigs are holding spots until and individual matures in life. If you wanna get poetic, its like a socioeconomic purgatory. :wow:

For me a lack of maturity or inability to harness potential = stupidity. Potential doesn't equate to results, no productivity. I don't live in what could be I live in what is and work towards what could be.

Most around here live in what they feel instead of what is

Pa, especially western PA is filled with small towns like this.

Legit old school sundown towns.

Everybody on drugs and section 8, all white :wow:
- The average income of a Bradford resident is $17,383 a year. The US average is $28,555 a year.
- The Median household income of a Bradford resident is $32,070 a year. The US average is $53,482 a year

The people who make those kinds of complaints are the people who get most of their meals from fast food restaurants. When I’ve had rich bosses who make fun of fast food workers for wanting more money I call them out on that. You had Starbucks for breakfast, will have chipotle or subway for lunch, then you’re stopping to get raising cane’s for dinner. Those $10 an hour workers are doing more to feed your family than you are.

Made me sit back and think about this.

100% right too, have a friend who would say this complaint.

Actin holier when she isn't beneath going through the Wendy's or Taco Bell drive thru :wow:

All of this sounds nice but it’s complete bullshyt because capitalism is a zero sum game. For someone to be a millionaire, there has to be alot of poor people or the million ain't worth shyt.

Very interesting read, I think COVID is going to kickstart a revolution when it comes to working.

It’s a damn shame there’s people that actually argue that people that aren’t happy with these jobs should look for something else. How does that resolve the issue that these billion dollar companies have people working 40 hours a week yet still need government assistance? Sadly I have a feeling it’s just people wanting someone to look down upon to feel better about themselves.

I mean No shade by this whatsoever, but can you please directly link this statement to my post.:patrice:

As it stands, it seems like a loosely related straw man was created and then subsequently attacked; instead of addressing the specific points in my post.:hubie:
