The whole, this is a high school job argument makes no sense to me when these businesses are open during school hours!
The people who make those kinds of complaints are the people who get most of their meals from fast food restaurants. When I’ve had rich bosses who make fun of fast food workers for wanting more money I call them out on that. You had Starbucks for breakfast, will have chipotle or subway for lunch, then you’re stopping to get raising cane’s for dinner. Those $10 an hour workers are doing more to feed your family than you are.

I wish them all the best of luck. I wonder what's stopping these folks from going back to school. I used to work at Walmart, but was in school at the same time. Got my degree and had a job lined up paying $17. Now I'm looking to make $60k, just gotta get passed these interviews. :whew:

Six years earlier, Matt had taken a Greyhound bus to Bradford from Tacoma, Wash., to visit a woman he met while playing a video game called “Second Life.” The woman turned out to be married. Now, Matt, 32, lived with her, her husband and another developmentally delayed woman in a rotting brown and yellow two-story rental, which had no working furnace, black mold and bedbugs. Matt was the only one in the house with a job, and they had all come to depend on his salary to survive.

So Cal
I said I wished them the best of luck and asked why aren't they going back to school?:dwillhuh:

We all know most Americans are too stupid to get a job that pays from higher education and that will pay off their debt. The underlying issues are giving better education for real life skills, money management, and paying lower skills job more money since mathematically someone has to do them

But the country is predicated on people being fat, stupid, and lazy, and exploiting those factors for money. If we we all fit, educated, and dedicated America would have the same financial issues as Europe.

Didn't even attempt to read the whole thing but one of the first lines I noticed was they are upping starting pay from $9.25 to $10.

:camby:

Could've ended the whole article there. I'm not sure why people are really trying to study this like it's not simple as fukk lol.

Its a maturity thing. It takes some folks longer than others. I think we have this nonesense drilled into our heads as kids that some people are smart while others are not. Few people connect the dots and realize that smart people(with exception of the autistic) are the result of time+effort. And just because you didnt put in the effort in middles school+highschool; doesnt mean you cant do it as an adult.

Once this realization clicks, you see random sht occur like a single mom, whom even her friends would consider dumb, learning pharmacology and organic chem to get her bachelors in nursing. You see stuff like 30yr old non-traditional biz/humanity graduates shooting for med school later in life.

You may even see my very favorite one. One of my college jobs was on some random dock, load/unloading sht. With the exception of us college students who were milking the flex hours, everyone there would be stereotypically bottom of the barrel. I'll never forget when one of the dock-hands, a dude named Julius, convinced himself that he could become a pilot. We laughed at the time, but one day it just clicked for breh. Little by little we saw him pick up math books for the first time and even study aeronautical instruments.

Now that same breh is flying cargo for UPS, spitting game to other dock-hands about how they can leave their lot in life.:wow:

So @Bossino , i disagree . America isnt filled with stupid people; its just that they havent matured enough to put in time/effort to do better. Unfortunately, ive noticed this really only clicks for late bloomers when they are being crushed under the weight of kids, divorce, and or family tragedy. And These are all things the same person was capable of doing before crisis.

In fact, as i type this; i realize that i kinda agree that these mcD gigs are holding spots until and individual matures in life. If you wanna get poetic, its like a socioeconomic purgatory. :wow:
