People are stupid in general. They'll give you a raise, then raise the prices, and every other job will follow so your $15/hr is still worth $9/hr because the price of everything is up.

No people especially business owners are rapacious and evil and will look to maximize their own income at the expense of others livelihood

new yorks fight for $15/hr at mcdonalds really inspired others. they were doing the same job and had the same franchise employer, yet they were getting paid $230 less a week for 40 hours work.

owner would rather bus in workers from out of state then hire or rehire at a competitive rate.:francis:

Isn’t a train commute like 2 hours from different states into nyc where the min wage is $15? 4 hours of commute per day but your making an extra $6 per hour? Sounds like a good trade to me if I were in that spot.

seems to be like a 10+ hour commute and $70 & up for buses.

cost of living went up, even in shythole towns now the cost of living is damn near big city status and during the pandemic a lot of people moved to smaller areas to work from home which drove up local rents and home prices

now you got small towns that cost more to live in 2 years later without increased opportunities. but this trend was going on for a short while. all the small towns that used to be affordable outside my city cost damn near as much to live in now.

a change is bubbling and a possible revolution down the line. most of it will centre around housing, cost of living and wage disparity.
