If you don’t think KCP and Kispert going off, (the two best shooters on their roster tonight) with no adjustment to the defense or special attention to them has nothing to do with coaching, I don’t know what to tell you.
Both KCP and Kispert were feeling it tonight, they hit a number of tough shots (that they wouldn’t typically make) mixed in with some defensive breakdowns. Whatever easy scoring opportunities the Wizards had fall primarily on the players out there. Everyone on this team has been in the system long enough to know the scheme and they’ve been playing long enough in this league to know what to do on the floor.

They aren’t 5th graders. They don’t need the coach to hold their hands, telling them what to do. They’re nearly at the end of the season, so everything should essentially be second nature at this point.

Kerr got a big excuse in the 19-20 team bc they were so young but I feel like that team would still suck even if they weren’t young. This dude can’t coach. And he CANNOT adjust.

Ur right. And besides, we saw this shyt all season when Steph is out. It’s not this one game, or this season. It’s EVERY season. Kerr coaches only one way. And when Steph is hurt, he cant adjust

give brown or atkinson a chance, kerr is in way over his head.
Except both Brown and Atkinson are responsible for the product on the floor.

They’re the ones who are head of offense and defense, respectively. This is why blaming the coaching as if Kerr is responsible entirely for what’s happening isn’t reflective of reality. The same goes for every team. Every team has a whole entire coaching staff working together on both ends of the floor making decisions.

But to that point, coaching isn’t the problem with this squad. It’s the roster imbalance and the state of the players on it.

No amount of adjustments, or a different approach to coaching, or a different coach, altogether, is going to cover up:

The worst big man rotation in the league (not just playoff teams, but the entire league)
Dray missing two months with a fukked back, him coming back and being clearly limited and all the wear and tear he's had over the years
Getting Wiggins to be consistently productive and engaged (no coach has succeeded before him going to GS, and no coach will when he leaves)
Klay missing out on two years of play and expecting him to just return to his normal self midway through the season without any bumps in the road
Integrating TWO rookies on a 'contending' team (no other contender is even remotely forced to do the same thing)
The numerous injuries that have needed to be managed throughout the season where they haven't even played ONE game will a full rotation.

They’re both the two most important pieces on this team, but here’s the thing: it was all the way back in ‘14/‘15 when they win 67 games at the start of this era. We are now in 2022, and they’ve won more games over a near-decade span than any team in NBA history. Expecting the same dominance eight years later is simply unrealistic. Draymond’s body isn’t what it once was and neither is Steph’s. It’s no surprise what this team was built upon isn’t having the same results it did back in 2016, especially given the fact their support cast is limited and doesn’t have the right balance in the right positions.
