The worst thing about all of this is, if they literally did anything else with that #2 pick, be it draft another player(s) or trade it for pieces, they would’ve been forced to bring in another big man at some point. But their overestimation and doubling-down on their belief in Wiseman has meant they don’t believe bringing in another big. That’s the worst thing of all. It’s more than just Wiseman, himself, it’s the domino effect of his existence on this team and Myers’ inability to admit he was wrong drafting him. Quite literally if Wiseman wasn’t on the team, there’d be another big in his place that could actually provide winning impact.
It’s hard to fathom that this has turned out to be even worse than the ‘worst case scenario’ of drafting him.
