Elba has opened up, discussing the possibility of exciting new roles and equally thrilling revisits to old characters.
The London based actor has recently become a household name thanks to his portrayal of a maverick detective in Golden Globe-winning BBC series Luther.
In a recent interview with Mumsnet, when quizzed about bringing Luther to the big screen, the 41-year-old revealed that he is "really trying to make that happen."

"It's kind of complex because it's a big task trying to make a popular TV show into a film," he said.

Although Elba is hoping to reprise the role of the street-wise detective John Luther, he is keen for the feature-length film to be perfect.
"It's taking a lot of time for us to understand what we should do. But we're getting really close.
"I've sent the writer off to a cave in New Zealand to write and I think he's close to coming up with something exciting.
"Watch this space – hopefully in the next year something might happen."
As well as discussing revisiting old characters, Elba addressed the persistent rumours concerning him following in the footsteps of Daniel Craig to take up the James Bond role.

Remaining cagey about playing Britain's most famous fictional secret agent, Elba neither confirmed nor denied that he would be the newest 007.
He said: "Everywhere I go people ask me if I'm going to be the next James Bond.
"It's actually a good rumour – what a great character!
"Who doesn't want to drive around in fast
cars with nice suits?!"
