Nastradamus was an incredibly disappointing album. The only more disappointing QB album was Infamy.

I fukks with both those albums

Free Agents and that joint that dropped in 04 was trash to me tho

Lemme guess, those were dope or better than Infamy? :comeon:

Fam. I don’t have to lie on here. Don’t try to play me. Lol

im not trying to play you. im trying to give you the benefit of the doubt that youre lying actually.

theres no way you were off the porch and didnt hear any people who were of-the-era criticizing that album.......or any album for that matter - but especially IWW.

Classic like Illmatic. End of story. No person I knew who was in the streets hated on it. Bumped out of whips everywhere. Album was dark, fly, conceptual, street, and conscious all at the same time. It’s a reason I had to chase down the vinyl much harder than it was to get the Illmatic Vinyl. They doing a rerelease now tho so it will be way easier.
This brings up something that pisses me off. I keep seeing purists say things like “you weren’t outside” to denigrate the album or other albums in rap but in reality…more people were outside bumping IWW in 1996 than fukking De La Soul. No disrespect to De La or Stakes Is High but it hasn’t gone gold in 25 years, yet we’re supposed to believe it was the pre-eminent rap record of summer 96 that people bumped outside over Nas? Over The Score…another album btw that purists hated on. Over AEOM, another album that purists hated on?

I remember reading a Scratch magazine article where Just Blaze was saying July 2, 1996 was the day Hip Hop changed forever because people picked It Was Written over De La Soul. A lot of purists probably saw it that way, which fueled the whole "It Was Written is a commercial, sellout album" narrative from purists. It's like the two albums couldn't coexist.
