Yankees offered $5 million less but one extra year. That's like a $55 million year so the difference isn't just $5 million. The extra year has to be taken into account.

Can't hate on the yankees, they put their money where their mouth was. Shocked they even went that high honestly. Idc about the team until Cashman is gone though. :manny:

This is why you pay Harper and Machado when both want to be here. The winter of 2018 doomed this team for a generation. That the GM who oversaw it is still here will never make sense to me.

And don’t forget Dusty.

They fumbled Machado, Harper and Dusty — and Ohtani was never really in play.

But to get zero of those 3 dudes is inexcusable.

They got Boone instead and looked at the balance sheet from a front office view instead of how to make this team win again. Too many dorks making decisions and not enough baseball guys.

Then when you have a Soto level player, the dorks don’t know how to connect with him so he can stay.

Yeah pretty much, no one cares about signing with the Yankees anymore unless they’re willing to give the premium like everyone else. The prestige doesn’t go for much these days.

I don't think Soto wanted to go to the Mets or wanted to leave the Yankees. He wanted the money.

Hal was never gonna outbid Cohen. The thought process was that he felt Soto enjoyed his time in NY enough that if they were to get close to the Mets offer, he'd stay. But Soto didn't give a fukk about nothing else. He's a mercenary at this point. Run him his money. And Cohen did just that

Now that he's no longer a Yankee, can we now admit that he's a DH playing OF, not worth 15 years, and that he cost us game 1, and likely the series, because of his bad defense?
Honestly he isn't worth over 550. But market says otherwise. That's an insane contract. Before the year started no one thought he would come close to this amount of money.

I'm not even upset.

When you have Boras talking about the bag, you do what he says because he can back these teams into a corner — and has teams bidding against themselves.

Meanwhile you have someone like Cohen who is trying the Dubai approach and throw bags out to make things look instantly built up with none of the actual heritage.

But money talks.

They better start the season 15-2 or else they will look like frauds

No way should he be making more than Judge . It didn’t sit right with me honestly:ld: I did want him back tho but yea man this ain’t your team dawg. You not Judge/Ohtani level

A lot of money and a lot of years and to this day we can’t even name 3 players who made the mega deal work.

ARod, Pujols, crackhead Josh Hamilton, Trout — have all been a tough pill to swallow on the back end of these deals

I had a feeling Cohen was loading up on Soto even more so than he intended once he let Adames go and had him sign with San Francisco. Mets just threw out Alonso like day old trash, didn’t even make him feel good with a courtesy offer :dead: :pachaha:

They passed on Turner, Correa, Castillo, Seager, Freeman, Olson, Snell, let Cano walk too. I’d love to know what they think will sell tickets going forward for an angry and fed up fanbase that’s tired of being lied to while watching an organization give a half ass effort every year and calling us spoiled when we call them out on it.

There’s no prestige left because Hal let his GM destroy it the same way reinsdorf let Krause destroy the bulls 25 years ago. That ballpark is gonna feel like a morgue this season and for the next decade to come if Hal doesn’t fire Cashman now. Your window is 100% slammed shut and the team is run by people who are impossible to root for. You have to do something drastic now before your team becomes white Sox levels of irrelevant.
