Honestly I think we all expected this to happen. Soto’s great but this team is very fraudish in a lot of areas and they really didn’t address it in the off season at all.
First base and third base were massive dead spots going into the year. Cabrera has maybe 2-3 homers since those first two series vs Houston and Arizona while posting maybe a .260-.270 OBP in that span and first base has been a catastrophe since last June. Torres hitting 55-60 points below where he did last year is killing them too.

Pretty much.

If the rest of the AL East laid their asses down by now then they could stumble into the playoffs and hopefully get it together by then. Not having to deal with the Astros anymore should’ve been enough for them to want to stay healthy and get the job done.

Fire sale begins soon so it’s time to grab a couple of rentals

And just like that, the Yankees are looking very 2023-ish again.

Real quick too. This infield has to be outside of Volpe the worst in baseball. The highest batting average among the players who’ve played 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base this year is .238, the top OBP is .298, and .344 is the highest slugging percentage :scust:. Volpe is 4th on the team in slugging at .412 and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd baseman have combined for just 21 homers on the season.
