Salute to all of you parents. The patience y'all have is incredible. My kids will be sick of me :wow: one day they will understand daddy wanted what was best for them

I'm watching my nephew get addicted to those stupid children youtube videos and it's not the way to get your children to be distracted. What do y'all do to stop this behavior? It's need to be done in moderations. His only 2 so any advice is helpful.

A few things I do with my 5 year old.

1. I always discuss and answer her (What and Why) questions. I see the cogs turning and she is practicing expressing what she is thinking very well for her age.

2. I never use the term "bad" to describe her or how she is behaving; as a rule. I think its cognitive coding that they associate with after hearing it, plus "bad" becomes "cool" later so...I am aiming to preempt the rebellious years. Things are simply right and wrong.

3. I don't tolerate wastefulness. She knows to ask for amounts of things (3 cookies, a little juice, etc) Gluttony and greed are shameful things...children are prone to this.

4. Sir and Maam are standard. As well as "coming when called"...we don't do that yelling thru the house shyt.

5. I let her play in dirt, mud, and with bugs and shyt intentionally. Run in the grass barefoot, let her get sunbaked, all that. Her mom hates that, but my baby has only been sick 3 times in 5 years. I know that the exposure builds a strong physical constitution and actually has a psychological affect.

This is an incredible observation. I also believe a lot of sickness is caused by the body developing an atrophy for the outdoors. Foods play a big part too, but I rarely ever see kids riding bikes anymore, jumping in leaves in the fall etc. We have a little sand a water table in the backyard but I have to do better at getting my kids outdoors too.

Get them hooked on water at a young age. Not not only will it be beneficial for their health and skin, it'll also save you a ton of money in the long run. Juices are expensive af, and we still send our daughter out with a thermos of water in her lunches everyday without a complaint. She loves the stuff. She often opts for water even when we have juice in the fridge.

Some articles I found on apps:

5 Best Coding Apps for Kids to Learn Programming

  1. Kodable (Free/Paid, Web/ iOS ).
  2. Daisy the Dinosaur (Free, iOS ).
  3. Think and Learn Code-a-Pillar (Paid, iOS / Android ).
  4. Gamestar Mechanic (Paid, Web).
  5. Minecraft (Paid).
Also get your child on that IXL if you can. Some really good stuff in there. They have it to where the app can alter the questions as they go based on the time it takes to answer.

IXL | Online maths and English practice.

For me, it's a frustrating time as a parent. After paying bills I barely have anything left. I wanna do so much with my kids man. Gymnastics, Soccer, Camps, College funds, etc. I wanna get a bigger place but I just can't afford it right now. I been applying to jobs hoping something comes through but nothing but rejections. I honestly believe a bigger paycheck would change our lives.

My advice as a parent would be don't argue in front of the kids. And don't curse in front of the kids. My wife stays cursing and I hate it. Then when my 7 year old says beat yo ass, you wonder where it comes from?
