It Still Baffles Me That The Beatles Are Considered the Greatest Ever Without Any Sense of Rhythm

My FAWG agrees... saying the Beatles are your favorite band is like saying Star Wars is your favorite movie franchise

Very very basic

I actually like the Beatles more now than I did when I was in my basic classic rock band phase as a teen. Their catalog is very diverse and the latter half of it has some really mature songwriting.

They have a few good songs. Like the structure of a few of their songs are something that intrigue me. Theyre good starts to potentially better songs, imho.

Like yesterday, that one is a good song. But I feel like I enjoy it more when I hear other people play their rendition. But the overall structure of the song I like, and the way the chord progression moves.

Best version of that song hands down

They're a great band that was very creative through their experimentation with music and drugs.Though I'll admit some of it is all right, and they deserve the credit for what they did.
However, it does not carry the African tones and rhythm I look for in the music that connects to me.

I know too much about the Beatles and I could school all of yall to this ____

if you can prove you can play guitar ill really break ____ down because you would have to actually be a musician to debate creating and writing actual music

Yellow Submarine was a soundtrack album, you just posted the Intro basically
And also the time period where they were incredibly high on LSD making songs for a cartoon

just to drop a few gems before we get into it, Beatles weren't just "a white band" they werent from America... you cant look at them as American off rip
The first few albums were filled with covers like most bands back then and they mastered playing small clubs on uppers drunk as ____. Everything was normal at that point
Most acts werent putting full originally written albums out, just singles and hits, especially not in pop music... because pop music is popular music. It's not a real genre of music
Like Muddy Waters had songs in blues and etc.... people had a lane. Beatles put together well written cohesive originally written full albums when nobody really was...They were using
a much different structure and sound basically creating Pop music just off swag. They didnt just stick to one style of music at all, but whatever genre they went for... they made the pop version of it.
Not only that, they directed highly produced promo videos which led to "Music Videos" And threw full length movies to go with the full albums ... this was like 1963 way before anyone. They never stayed comfortable
and everytime they were stereotyped Lennon or Mccartney would completely turn left and go against the grain.

One of the most amazing facts is, these ______ were playing full stadiums solo before anyone with 100$ amps to 30k people... and not missing a beat... that ____ is extraordinarily hard fam... you would not be able to hear yourself singing or playing at all with a full band of people. Imagine doing a rap show with a 100$ amp and a mic plugged in to a baseball field full of people. They criticized the Queen and ____ on UK... they came to America and said ____ the racism and inequality in America and Lennon from 1970 - 1980 hung with black panthers and completely ____ on USA without even being a legal citizen here.

I could break down like 10 pages of ____ the Beatles did for hit music, they donated and created prototypes for the first cell phone, the MRI machine etc. They always gave credit where it was due and gave props to their heros... I can see how people wouldnt like the Beatles or not understand but in a 7 year window, they literally created the full album, the original composition album, the music video and promotional roll out and music based movie picture. They werent rock music, or psychedelic music or blues band... they were literally just a pop band ... they pioneered making perfect bops

everytime they said "Well you cant talk about drugs, or you cant talk about whores" they found a creative way to make hooker anthems or weed songs... if you know you knowwww

they also were the first to count in on songs (1,2,3,4!) alot of the cueing up and techniques were later used to blend records and help create a better radio program

Miles Davis is one of the other people that changed music this much... Chuck Berry etc.
There's like a 10 page list of ____ you can directly attribute them for bringing. Other rock bands like the Stones are one trick pony's or following the lead... alot of them just blatantly ripping black music off, Beatles were making pop music with classical instruments and ____, throwing trombone and brass sections over straight pop. John Lennon's whatever get's you through the night directly influenced the Saturday Night Live theme song ...without Beatles, there is no Purple Rain and ____ like that.

psychedelic rock - doowop mash up with blues foundation

come on fam

mcartney and lennon had amazing harmonies on tracks vocally

john and ringo inventing drum and bass music in 1965 and putting it on a huge album with no fukks given

killing their demo at 17 years old ... complete different style of music every song

Excellent post :wow:

Cats take the Beatles for granted because all of the stuff they influenced was so revolutionary that basically everybody started doing it. We see it everywhere today so we take it for granted. The Beatles were among the first to come out with cohesive, well-written albums that weren't just singles and covers. Their promotional videos paved the road for music videos. Lennon and McCartney were two of the most groundbreaking songwriters in the history of American music (George Harrison also had some bops). They refused to play for segregated audiences.

I'll admit though that one poster earlier made a good point that we often associate the Beatles with that corny beach music sound from the 50s and I can see why people are down on that.
Their stuff doesn't really get good for me personally until Rubber Soul. Revolver and Sgt. Peppers are also dope.

I never said they were the first. I did said they were AMONG the first, and they were definitely gamechangers in that regard.

...I never mentioned Chuck Berry in my previous post. I agree with you that Chuck Berry doesn't get the respect he deserves though.
Black artists pioneered blues, rock, soul, RnB, and nearly every noteworthy genre in the history of American music. Sadly, these same black artists aren't recognized the way they should be.
MJ (the GOAT) called out the music industry on multiple occasions regarding their treatment of black artists.

are you implying buck cherry's songs weren't well written?:gucci:

Nope. Chuck Berry is one of the undisputed GOATs. It's criminal the way people idolize the likes of Elvis over him.

are you crazy?:mjtf:

Probably, haha. I'm pretty out there IRL :pachaha:

Again its not what you play its how you play it. Hip hop is an entire genre based on 'stealing' from old songs :russell:

And yes, Robert Plant is a little over the top. I get mad at him sometimes. Dont nobody wanna hear you have an orgasm

"holddddd onnnnn. babyyyyy babyyyy ohhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhhhh come get this dikk"

Nah cuz the best hip-hop turns the samples into something completely different and new. Zeppelin weren't turning the riffs they jacked into anything new.

Now to be fair, Zeppelin do have some joints. I just think there's better bands from that classic rock era though (Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Creedence Clearwater, Allman Brothers, etc.)

And yeah I hate Plant's singing orgasms lol. Such a song ruiner.

I consider myself a fan of them. I'd never consider them even close to greatest. Their singing isn't all that at all(anybody who calls them great singers needs their ears examined...these dudes used to wail in the upper register and were nasally in the lower..I mean it's on pitch but whatever). Playing either. I'll give it up that they were great songwriters and that goes a long way. Ask Keith Sweat. They got where they were by being British(ie white and different in the 50s and 60s). They aren't trash but it wasn't really their skills that got them where they are...let me just put it that way.
