It saddens me that Microsoft is price gouging my Xbrehs for PCIe 3 storage external memory cards

OMG. The image you quoted from gizmo to claim that off-the-shelf parts work is from the modder. And it's using a disassembled xs card.

The article you're quoting about the adapter says:

then
The image was from the modder.

The article i posted was specifically about a different adapter.

Another person used that adapter and is testing drives to see which ones work.

Obviously it’s limited at this point, but that will get better in the future.

The whole point is that there is a “non-proprietary” solution and as with anything else, as time goes on those solutions will get better/cheaper.

You started off saying this:

In the picture gizmo posted it shows that you can buy off the shelf ssd for xbox too.

This is what it says on the page where you can purchased the adapter:

Only Support WD CH SN530 M.2 nVME SSD (not support WD PC SN530).

So no, there's not a solution. Those adapters are all a huge scam.

That’s an off the shelf drive, and there are plenty of accounts of people getting it to work.

The WD CH SN530 is the internal Xbox ssd which is why it worked. Good luck finding one.

I didn't know I had a special screwdriver :ohhh:. I installed my m.2 to my ps5 using a screwdriver that was included in my nest thermostat i bought 6 years ago. It has a really nice comfy grip.

I guess when somebody makes a valid point you can’t refute this is the default response. Those Xbox 2TB cards are almost $150 more that a 2TB drive compatible with a PS5.
Once the seagate exclusivity ends there will be other drives. I don’t see storage being that much of a premium for most gamers to need an additional 2TB at the moment on any system.

:wow: I remember like it was yesterday when nikkas were praising the ease of use of this piece of shyt and complaining they needed a screwdriver to install an nvme into a PS5 :wow:

Edit: the mods removed it, but it was €245 for the 1 tb and €460 for the 2tb
