It's like Lars von Trier made a coherent teen horror film.

David Robert Mitchell framed it best -

I'm hesitant to say. I don't want to be like, "This is what the film means." The only thing I am comfortable saying about it is that, on some level, one of the things important to me is the discussion of mortality. That's probably another fairly obvious one in that we're all mortal, we're all here for a limited amount of time, it's something that we all are aware of. In the film, it's not necessarily sex that opens this character up to danger. Sex is just one aspect of living. So it's literally just life itself, the act of living, is what creates a necessity for us to die. It's literally about the moment at which you are becoming aware of your mortality and some of that has to do with growing up, and sex is part of that. The characters open themselves up to this danger through sex, but I like to think that sex and love are ways we can push death away, at least temporarily. That's sort of what happens in the film in a very literal way, but in the grander scheme of things, it's one of the ways in which we can really be alive and not be so focused on what happens to us. In that moment, we can be truly alive.
Best horror I've seen since Kill List. Undoubtedly.

Wait wait..... pause, time out...... I thought that was the purpose of a horror movie

A horror movie is not going to "scare" a rational adult. C'mon now man. Jump scares? Maybe.

If I can put myself in the shoes of the protagonist and it makes me :whoa: then I consider it "scary", even though it doesn't actually scare me. But I can judge a horror movie independent of that, too.

I like "Scream" (the first one)....but I've had the same gun since the 90's, if someone called me up talking crazy like the intro scene I'd be :stopitslime::rudy::shaq2::aicmon::camby:

Now this movie....shyt would be scary if it happened to me. Because it's inevitable, it doesn't get tired or go :manny: and give up, and you can't kill it. shyt would get :whoa: real fast.

Fred.

Great concept...

Great cinematography...

Had that great campy feel to it...

But horror...nah...

Movie was more funny than anything...

Dude standing buck naked on top of the girls house...like...what the fukk is "it" going to do up there:dahellwhat:...standing buck naked on someone roof is mad disrespectful in it's own right...I would have had to throw down right then and there...I'll be damn if I'm going to have somebody but naked on the roof of the house I'm paying for... :yeah ok:

The whole mother/son/it scene is some demonic perverted cac shyt I can't get into:yeah ok:...served no purpose other than to be some perverted shyt cacs always dream up and put in movies:yeah ok:

Paul was way to much of a simp:yeah ok:

Also as far as plot goes there were so many holes that there really wasn't one...now i have low expectations for horror movies cause they are you know...suppose to scare you and make you feel uncomfortable...but this had shyt in it like characters giving other characters advice on what to do while being in the same situation and doing the exact opposite of the advice they gave the other character :yeah ok:

It had more purpose than that. There was Oedipus undertones to it and the fact he may have been exposed to his moms sordid behavior in the past, perhaps in his childhood. From the dialogue between him and others, there was definitely some sort of conflict him and his moms.

Yeah I think you missed the whole point of the film.
