I wish there was more explanation or a mythos involving the monster. Something

I want to know what the monster is, why it's there, is there a way to stop it, why does it transfer like a vd, where are the parents, why is the friend zoned friend so eager to get murked? Great cinematography, and soundtrack, nice creepy feel but ending fell flat and there was 0 payoff to the mystery of the monster

Not knowing is what makes it.

So many potentially great horror films crashed and burned because they decided to stop and explain everything and ruined the entire film.

Horror is best when it's in mystery. One of the reason the strangers works so well is the killers' reasoning: because you were home. That's it. They didn't have a vendetta they didn't pick their victims out for specifics. It was a random act of violence that terrifies because that can happen to any of us.

What makes it follows work is the mystery. And that mystery reinforces the real world logic of an STD

Word. It's funny tho a friend of mine felt the opposite. He felt like it follows gave enough explanation and the babadook didn't give enough. Only after we talked through it did the lightbulb go off for him
