amazing film. Tho I will say studios do these movies a disservice by painting them just as horror movies. Audiences are too conditioned on trash horror tropes (jump scares, super quick pacing, brain dead scripts, etc) to appreciate films like The Witch, House Of The Devil, etc.

never hav i felt like one smilie so adequately summed up my feelings toward an entire film immediately after sitting through it and the credits began to roll

I think I'm more pissed about the waste of my precious time than the 7 bucks I paid to see this.

Well acted pretty to look at hour and a half of NOTHING.

There were like 3/4 other people in the crowd and they were NOT happy.

Someone brought a kid to this film... like a very young kid. I hope he gets the living shyt scared out of him

Acting was great, the direction was really good and the film kept up a really nice sense of impending doom for most of its running time.
However, it just never felt 100% satisfying to me...something just felt like it was missing to me.

Also A24 needs to stop with their false advertising in their trailers. Every trailer for every A24 movie always paints the misleading picture that their movies are more mainstream horror than they ever actually are.

I thought the movie was really good but the ending was abrupt. Things could've been fleshed out a little more, but still, the flick was pretty damn good. The audience I saw it with HATED it and they were all super annoying. I think they were misled about what this movie was. Some lady brought like 6 of her YOUNG ass kids with her to see this. Some guy screamed out that he wanted his money back after it ended, people kept leaving every 2 minutes to go the bathroom, making tons of noise with their food/drinks during the movie. Joel killed it.

We didn't get to learn much of their backstory but we did get to see all of them put in lose-lose situations that forced them to make decisions that revealed their character. There is plenty about them that we never got to learn, but I still came away feeling like I knew them at their core, knew what they feared, and what they were willing and unwilling to live with.
