Horror directors these days simply have zero clue what constitutes as a creepy film and need to look back in time to some of the classics to see what made them so great. You need to allow atmosphere to build, slowly step up the creepiness so you're left wondering when shyt is gonna go down. I get people are ADD as fukk these days, but when every film has the same rushed setup with a CGI laced jump scare every 5 minutes, shyt gets boring fast.

The Shining and The Exorcist are the perfect examples of building that suspense. Look at the 70s horror for inspiration.

Yeah I was disappointed by this

This felt like an extended cut and didn’t need to be nearly 3 hours. That whole middle section with the flashbacks and the Pennywise scares really made the movie drag. Just got too predictable.

There was too much comedy, really brought the tension down.

The last act saved the movie imo. Some genuinely creepy moments (the spider head, Richie’s reaction to seeing the dead lights, etc. but overall the movie just didn’t feel that cohesive, more like a collection of scenes. And the tone was all over the place with the comedy not meshing as well with the horror like the first movie. Overall I’d probably give this a 6/10.

I saw it in Dolby and the Dolby mix adds a whole lot to the movie. The rumbling seats added a lot to the ambiance of the movie. It's a 5-7/10 in normal formats but near a 7-8/10 in dolby, especially the last 20-30 minute scene. The people who did the dolby mix did a GREAT job.

Once again, the first 15 minutes of the film is intense as hell and sets a tone that the rest of the movie just cannot keep up with.

"Look how much money we made from Chapter 1!!!!" :krs::krs::krs:

The gay guy getting thrown off a bridge is based on a real story from 1984

I actually walked the bridge last month...because I'm straight I didn't get thrown off :troll:

This movie made me realize exactly what was so brilliant about Curry's performance. There's two main genres of horror, slasher and supernatural, and Tim rode the fine line between John Wayne Gacy and a demonic alien. Very little scares me but the 1990 film isn't something I can watch often.

I saw Get Out, John Wick 2 and Split in Dolby and you ain't cappin' but all three of those movies are still the same score regardless of how you see them :sas2:

Interstellar is only meant to be seen in IMAX tho

Came back from a viewing a few hours ago:
the scene were the gay dude gets thrown in the river and you he could start to see pennywise in his peripheral was kinda scary. But there seem to be a lot more comedy in this one like when Richie and Eddie were going thru the three doors. It definitely dragged, towards the middle and I hate how everyone’s story was told but mike’s story was literally 2mins.. overall for what it’s supposed to be, it was okay but very predictable and the scares weren’t there. Chapter 1 was a 8, chapter 2 was a 6. But overall still a good project..

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Caught it last night, Pennywise be wilding :bryan:

Hope they find a way to bring him back again

It's hinted in other Stephen King novels that Pennywise may very well still be alive.
  • Shortly after The Losers once again leave Derry, a hurricane hit and flooded the town and buried It's lair.
  • In Tommyknockers, which takes place two years after the Losers take on It for the last time, Tommy sees a clown in a storm drain, but he shrugs it off as a hallucination.
  • In Insomnia, there's a brief mention of Ralph seeing an aura (a.k.a. the deadlights) coming from a storm drain.
  • In Dreamcatcher, there's a statue in Derry that has been vandalized with graffiti which reads "PENNYWISE LIVES".
Those are a few that I can think of, and there may be more. I don't think he'll be back though.
