Im starting to hate my job and I only been here for almost two years so far. It is a technician role basically, testing a bunch of I.T equipment and hard drive erasure.

I feel like I am on the verge of getting the fired too and don't know what to do right now brehs.

I was studying for AWS and its been going good, but I don't know how much time it I got left at this job and I need money.

I have no certs either but have a large knowledge on how to troubleshoot lots of different I.T equipment and 2 years experience in a I.T setting.

What mid or entry level cert could I study for right now that I would be able to get by Feburary or the end of this year, that could land be another job quickly?

I would study for the A+ cert just so that you know the material to cover any knowledge you don’t already have. You don’t have to sit for the exam though. Then I would take the network + and sec +, that should be enough to land you a desktop support job. In the meantime you can decide if you want to continue the aws route or go into something else.

I got fired a while back, I'm back studying... here's the issue I'm a older head with limited educated? I went to a for profit school and still owe loans. So I have some questions.

1. Should I just go for the bachelors in Cybersecurity at the school I went to? Or should I try to find cheaper training?

I have a S+ and almost finished with the N+ and will complete the CYSA+ within 2 months.

I was downloading alot of study material for warez sites to prepare, I got this...

Linux for Network Engineers - Learn Linux Practically with GNS3!

I could hang a bit knowing I never touched a router or switch in real life nor experienced anything cisco but I got lost a bit and are having a bit of trouble. I'm stuck at trying to configure a cisco router for DHCP to enable internet for the unbuntu dock.

So I need to know what to do, I was gonna apply at the post office and call that a day this IT shyt is really for youngins so what should I do?

1. Get the N+ and CYSA+ and hope to get a job to "train" me on other things... keep in mind I'm over 40 so IDK if they will.
2. Inquire about the BS in CYBERSECURITY

Cyber Forensics/Information Security | Keiser University

3. Continue trying to use GNS3 and VMWARE and teach myself NETWORKING AND LINUX WELL enough to throw on my resume to get a job.

The only reason I'm trying to go to Keiser is because I got a associates there so it's quicker getting the bachelors if they accept ALL my credits.

I'm broke and CC won't give me financial aid cuz my GPA is bad and I have to get them up. So what should I do?

I done finessed my way through and got the BIG bag dropped on me brehs :moneygang::takedat:

New network engineer role with heavy usage of AWS, automation, and the usual firewalls, routing & switching. I was looking work something with a combo of network engineering & devops style work. Will start towards the end of the month.

The projects they want to do are exactly in line with the skill set i am trying to build so its like a perfect match.

Definitely going to learn a lot here its going to be a crazy year for me :wow: . I guess I can update you guys in another 3-4 months on how everything is going.

Have you tried applying for help desk or desktop support positions? I don't see why you couldn't get one of those positions with the Security+ and Network+. Continue your self learning and try applying at the same time. Let potential employers knowtl that you are labbing at home to improve your skillset. My viewpoint in life for everything is that as long as I can wake up and move, I can do anything I want. So even though it can be hard never feel like you can't do it.

You don't need a degree in this field. You need experience.
Getting your foot in the door the certs RIGHT NOW, will give you the best ROI.
Study for the certs, get your CySA+ ignore Net+, Sec+ and CySA+ trump it.
Now I say this because with those certs shoot for applying to any job that will get you a secret clearance.
Now I think I have a few links to jobs that are willing to sponsor clearances.

Keep using that GNS3 if you want to learn network interfaces, and see if you can get into a networking job, it might take time to transition to being a full network engineering role but it is possible.

Just keep on studying and study to learn, not for any test, that is the best advice I can give you.

I have the s+ already and I'm reading through the n+ now and I know most of the information.

The cysa+ won't do much for networking but cybersecurity is a difficult field.

I also have packet tracer and boson netsim and gns3.

What's the best out of the best in your opinion?

Im gonna get that cysa after I breeze through this n+ booklet and afterwards hit some Cisco training.

I'll follow that advice. I got nothing to lose so might as well go for broke.

CCNA would be recommendation. The test changes next year in Feburary so if you put in a good amount of effort you might be able to pass it before then.

If you arent interested in cyber security skip the cysa alyogether. Go the ccna route or even better the the juniper or brocade route, but best of luck to you. Better option to think about might be leaving the ney+ and going the ccent route and taking the two test for tge ccna and moving from there.

That said cybersecurity is not difficult at all its a great entry point in the federal side to getting a clearance and your foot in the door.

I was thinking I'm need some networking skills where ever I go so the ccna is a must. Just the ability to config routers is gonna be big at all companies to troubleshoot.

Okay I'll do the ccna first. Then get the cysa+.
