Lemme guess. LinkedIn Learning? :mjlol: My company has the same bullshyt. It's garbage. Youtube is a better platform for learning than that.
That and another internal platform. shyt, and me to some hands on training because all I'm gonna do is play these videos and go do something more interesting.

Are there any Mac sysadmins on here? Familiar with JAMF?
I've used it. It works pretty well. It's 6K upfront and then a couple hundred a month I think. The version I was using made packaging applications annoying but it's a decent product.

I'm a few months into it just trying to learn scripting and building policies. It's easier than SCCM to me. I use the free one on my personal devices to practice at home but my job pays for the big boy version so I can get my hands dirty when I get my skills up.

to those in the DevOps space:

mind sharing your bonus and equity package details? my current salary is great, but I think my total comp is lacking in those two areas.

Man I got to talk to the system analyst for my company who has been in IT for 30+ years. Learned a lot we talked for about an hour and a half. He’s oversaw projects for the city, st jude and all kind of other big companies. Offered to let me come to his house to see his office and all the different servers he has running.

Question brehs, my manager mentioned having to learn Python and Ansible, how long do you think it would take me to get good at this Devops stuff by self learning?

Build something with python (autmation script, personal project, game etc)

Deploy something you would normally do manually instead with ansible (for example lets say u manually deploy a windows vm to an esxi host, well try to do that now with ansible)

From my experience doing is the only way learning those things really will stick. You can go through as much tutorials as possible but it won't matter till you have an actual project made with it. Doesnt have to be that BIG just build somethng multiple things even.

Definitely! That's what my boy told me to just do complete pipelines. I am honestly doing this for knowledge purpose. My manager is just one of those guys who wants you to constantly be learning something to look good to upper management and he brings it up during our call but I don't think he truly knows all the different tools involve in devops and that ansible is just scratching the surface. I know within my current role, it's pointless to learn . My goal is to bounce in march, so intermediate knowlege of all the tools involve mainly from a security perperstive ( devsec) is what I mostly desire. I am not going to turn to a developer over night and compete with those that have been doing it for years but I can eat a slice of the pie.

DevSecOps and the cyber imperative.
