I need to get back into this. Warehouse work is not for me. shyt is like slavery. I had 801-802 certs. How much different is the new material? Most of the 1001-1002 practice tests seem to be about the same stuff I already know. Most of the basic questions have been around since I first started studying over a decade ago. Would those Professor Messer videos be good enough? I still have all my old notes and flash cards I made.

Would you say Linux Academy is worth the sub? I've been on AWS free tier a lot but this shyt sounds like it's worth the investment. Lots of stuff I feel like you can learn for free but I have no probably paying if the material is quality.

Yes to me Linux Academy is worth it. In addition to the training videos you get the lab VM's which help you practice whatever you learning. Most other sites don't have that going for it. With that said, if you're going for AWS certs, you might want to check out acloudguru as well. People who have taken the AWS certs say their material is the best for those specific tests.

BTW you can get cloudguru's course on Udemy instead of their website for $10.99

That’s where I’m at with my job. I been watching Messer’s videos but I’m thinking I’m gonna get a few practice exams to see where I’m lacking because a lot of the stuff he’s going over I know. I decided to do the A+ first and then make my next move from there. My job has turned into a dead end average wage job and there’s no way for me to move forward there. I’m just saving and investing money so when I leave I can live even with a pay cut.

Anyone here have any security certification? Say CompTIA for example.

My job is paying for this 24 week Cyber-Security Bootcamp and im considering taking it. What do you think of this curriculum? Is it worth it? What's the demand like for these skill sets?

If they paying for it absolutely.

Linux Hardening? Python Programming? Bash Scripting? All those Kali Linux tools? Along with that Network bit? You can't go wrong with any of that. All together? Forget about it. A lot of the other sutff sounds like your standard Net+ and Sec+ stuff that you would learn just by studying for them and maybe through labs. If they are gonna give you good hands on techinical stuff do it.

Go there, pick up the skills, slap it on your resume. Eat.

If they paying then you have nothing to lose by doing it. Anything they pay for that can add to your skills you should take advantage of. My company think some funky ass unrelated videos are training :hhh:.

I’m studying for my Sec + now. That shot is absolutely worth it your earning power will go way up and there’s a big demand for security. I’m starting another program in September to get into CyberSecurity and in particular ethical hacking.

If it’s getting paid for I’d do all that shyt breh. Plus idk about you, but cyber security is by far the most fascinating field in IT.

The Truth
Anybody uses Professor Messers Sec + NOTES?

I'm taking the 501 in a few weeks (for school). Sucks they changed it from the 401 or I would've passed (should've renewed). I took the 501 last year without studying and failed by 1 question.

I ended up taking CYSA and passed, currently working in a cybersecurity type role but trying to increase my shyt (school, Sec+, and Net+ for this semester). My CYSA didn't renew my Sec + though and it's required from school and I haven't studied anything in almost a year.

Anyway, I kinda just need more of a refresher instead of actually rereading all the material. I'm wondering should I just get his notes (currently going through my school labs/curriculum, Professor Messer study groups, reading the book slightly, and taking Mike Meyers class on Udemy) or should I just skip it and keep what I'm doing.
