Moved it up for you brehs.
IT Certs are a technology related field. Where else to learn about computers & technology than the Arcadium?
the original thread was posted in the rec room...
I've been to higher learning once and probably won't go back. It needs to be here.
The original thread ON HERE was posted in higher learning forum and the guy just bumped it back to the top. I'm aware of the rec room thread. This isn't that other site. You going back or not does not determine where a thread should be located, I'm cool with it being here, but it shouldn't be. The problem is that people create their own little communities in forums and then never break out. I understand that. Look, that forum is only going to be as good as posters make it. The whole idea is for it to be the place for any news and any kind of thread like this. Any type of educational, informational or intellectual discussion. There's a bunch of topics that should be in that forum that aren't put there because it has stigma (justifiable given what know the ledge was). All I'm saying is that we bumped it up to being a main forum for a reason.
This thread doesn't NEED to be here. I'm cool if it stays, but let's be logical. Why in the world is the forum that has a dedicated and stickied thread to coding and programming, not the proper place for an IT thread? I guess I have to start advertising to get people out of their shells.
At my dude JoelB: The Arcadium's purpose is more for things that are entertainment related. I.E. Movie thread = here. Thread about learning to create the graphics for movies of that sort generally = Higher Learning.

I aint gonna lie, i'm just in it for the check. I'm pretty smart, so I know I could easily do it so what's the best route to get started? I need to be making 100k in the next few years. School me!
For those looking to break into the field.
My advice:
Start out by acquiring a helpdesk job at a webhosting company (hostgator/cpanel..etc) They train you and you can gain experience from there... the pay starts at like $10.50/hr...you can move up quick.. get your A+ cert and you're good.
Once you're there for 2-3 years you can move into more of a network admin role.
That's what I did
I worked at Hostgator for 2 years as a lvl. 2 helpdesk tech, A+ certified, Network+ certified, now I'm an assistant network admin/IP telephony admin/desktop support tech for a retail electric provider.
Also my Undergrad major has absolutely NOTHING to do w/ IT..just goes to show Experience goes a long way in the IT field.
Hope this helps brehs.
Is it that serious?
He's not forcing you to do anything. He's providing a completely valid opinion. And I don't know about you but I didn't come here because I was tired of people sharing an opinion on SOHH. This place offers tapatalk, has faster servers, has owners/founders that are actually present and offers a ton more small things like image and youtube embedding. None of his post affects my decision to come here.dont police us bruh
just continue being a lakers, patriots and yankee fan and let us do what we want thats why we came here in the first place

Anyway, who has their CCNA? That's the one I'm about to start gunning for in a few months...
A+ Certified at the moment. Working on my Network+ this year.
