passed the 801 yesterday taking the 802 friday. Just a fair warning though the 801 has alot of network related questions on it
What resources (if any) did you use to study for the A+? I'm having a hard time finding material that focuses on the objectives.

I passed the A+ 802 exam, breh !!:gladbron:

I am now officially part of the club :blessed:

Once cert down and two more to go

were the objectives accurate to the actual exam questions?

i.e
33% OS
22% security
9% mobile devices
36% troubleshooting

a lot of simulation/performance based questions?

They are accurate. If you know the Operating System and know which utility to use for troubleshooting, you will be fine. You really need to study security. There a lot of question in regards of malware attack, antivirus software, and physical security. Also, when I took the test yesterday, I was astonished by the small amount of simulation I had to complete, because the first and second time I attempt the 802 test, both test had like 8 simulation. There was 4 EASY simulation on yesterday test, and the rest was multiple question.

HERE IS A LINK THAT CAN HELP YOU WITH THE MULTIPLE QUESTION

I really need to up my cert game, I'm getting to a point where I'm way to comfortable at my job and things are rapidly changing around me.

Any network admin got any recommendations for good certs or just admin books in general?

Stick at it. It's not terribly difficult once you figure out the OSI model and what happens at each layer. That and learning how to subnet will get you there.

I think the networking thing is something that you really have to enjoy. It's good stuff to know in general for troubleshooting purposes but I don't use that knowledge day to day on my job. Unless you work in a really small shop, the network stuff is usally segregated to a networking team

Yeah its no joke, gonna take a while to learn. Wondering if other fields would be easier.

You gotta be honest with yourself and figure out where you wanna be and work backwards from there. Let's say I wanted to be a network engineer.

Take CCENT/CCNA(If you're on your grind you can knock em both out in a month or two), get a job at a NOC, tier 1 support, tier 2 support, network engineer. If nothing else, you have to use your knowledge or you will lose it. Build networks in GNS3. Break them. Troubleshoot them. Some stuff you won't fully understand until you see it in production, but if you lab well enough you can at least sit in an interview and not look like you are totally out of your depth.
