Haven't posted in this thread in a while but I think it's time to check in. I'm now a Cybersecurity team lead and working on my masters through SANS technical institute. Working on getting my compensation updated but right now I'm still getting paid 95k
Do you work from home? If not did you have to relocate?
I’ve been getting more interested in Cloud Engineering but still have my Comptia Sec+ book

I spoke with the Sr. Manager for IS op's at my company. He told me people usually go from hardware-global escalation (server admin)-spread out into either different department's like End User computing, Information Sec etc. He told me to get Sec +, Network + and CISSP. He also said to get Ippsec and work on that until I am at a medium or above medium level of knowledge. H

I'm bored and seeking knowledge. I think I want a security + cert just to see if I can get one. How hard is it?
You’ll have to study for it. It requires knowledge, it’s not just common sense. Hell even going blind to take ITF+ can be hard for most

What should I start with to give me general knowledge and technical understanding?
For the Sec+. You can use YouTube or check a page or more back in this thread for those sites you can get the free pdfs of books to use for study.

Paid sources you got Udemy courses which go on sale often and have an app, so don’t buy at full price or buy book instead of getting the pdf if you like physical books.

Peep reviews first on any paid source of material
