Networking brehs, does the CCNA cover these requirements?
and are there any Telecom brehs on here?

A ccna can help you get a telecom job but I would not want to be in telecom honestly. Way too process oriented for me.

I got about 50 bands saved and I’ve made the decision to walk away from my Help Desk Lead position by Feb 2022, I’ll be 29 and with over 3 years experience to translate to other potential jobs, I just can’t do it anymore with the shytty helpdesk work life balance and constant incoming calls and upper management bullshyt:francis:

I got recruiters hitting me on LinkedIn on the regular so I don’t need to deal with this shyt no more, bout to take a good 3 to 4 months for myself and get these Net+ and CCNA certs out the way

I had an interview with a top institution, I didn't bomb it but I clearly didn't kill it like I normally do.
I had an interview recently where I did terribly. Barely answered any technical questions. And it appeared half the interview team had something against me. But since I already had another job offer in the bag albeit for a crappier job paying less money than I make now. I was extremely confident bordering on arrogant. But to my surprise they offered me the job. Despite the fact I'm completely unqualified for this job. And have no idea why the hell they offered it to me.
:ohhh:

I only applied because I was interested in being a Pentester but I actually never done that shyt before. Now I have a decision to make on whether to take a job I'm completely unqualified for. Or a lesser paying job I could easily do on the Blueteam side. But Blueteam jobs are dead end unless you move into Management. All that shyt is being outsourced overseas and that's why I want out.

What were some of the questions they asked you?

A bunch of questions on popping shells, CTF's and coding questions related to hacking. I don't do any of that stuff since I work in Security Operations. So I was shocked when they granted me an interview and even more shocked when they offered me the job. I would basically have to learn a completely different skillset Redteaming and could crash and burn. But I know there isn't any future in Security Operations or Blueteam unless you're in Management.

Brehs I need help. I'm stuck in my career right now on what path to go down. I been help desk and a regular technician for the past 3-4 years of my life. I always wanted to change and advance in my career but I always felt lost. That is why I have surface level knowledge on different sections of IT now. I never knew if I really wanted to do Cloud, Cybersecurity, Sales, etc.

How did you guys really pick something and stick with it? I hate when there is no structure in different parts of my life :francis:

You got two choices really. Either befriend someone high enough in a company that can pull strings to move your career forward. Or you'll have to job hop to gain the experience you need. Because getting promoted at most companies today is damn near impossible. You'll also need to be really good at certification test taking and interviewing for jobs. There are tons of articles and books on both these subjects and mastering both you can make tons of money in this field.

Thanks for the advice breh. Sadly the first two options are not avaiable to me right now cause I'm unemployed due to my health. But I'm gonna start looking for a job again in like 5-6 months. I have been wanting to go the cloud route for months already, but it's been hard for me cause of not having a structured learning enviorment. I don't know how you brehs do it. In school they give you a ordered outline of the things that you need to learn. When self learning it's like I'm going down a rabbit hole of info, not knowing where to start or where to end:francis:.
I'm trying to see if I can become a system or cloud admin in 5-6 months basically with basic pc repair and software troubleshooting..

I'm currently learning Linux and Python right now and it's going good because I actually enjoy what I am learning, plus I am making projects on the side.

It is learning networking that just throws me off my whole game for some reason :unimpressed:

If you need an outline to study, every certification comes with exam objectives that you should learn to pass the exam. Start from there.

You have to want it more. In this field, you're going to have to grind to get to a good level unless you're very lucky. It's why alot of people just find some place they're comfortable and just stay there. If you have problems doing self study, there are various platforms that offer courses that you can follow. Some paid, some free. If you know where to look, you can find them all for free:yeshrug:. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself how bad do you truly want it and what are you doing to get there.

You are right. Once I have a sense of direction again, I will get my motivation back.

I think I truly lost it at the start of the pandemic, but it really started throughout my years at my last company. I maybe developed a sense of ego and entitlement from being the go to guy for most tech questions at my company. I got hired with neither degree or cert, and would always get asked questions/solve problems for the people there with them. It was annoyance for me seeing people in higher roles, making way more money than me not knowing how to do something as basic as a Google search.:why:.
That is why when I self study I continually ask myself do I really need to know this shyt, when the answers to many things is right there on Google. Why do I need a cert for this shyt? I have not had a role yet where IT isn't Google, then following a series of steps to solve problem, documenting, and then memorizing it so you can maintain order daily and if problems arrive in the future. Rinse and repeat :unimpressed:
