brehs, why do recruiters get a bad rap on here? besides the fact you can barely understand the mfs.. are they getting over on ppl?
Most have fake jobs or they waste you're time to look busy to their Boss.
Knowing damn well they didn't have any job leads. But just need to be talking to any candidate on the phone.

I've dealt with recruiters that didnt read the job description before contacting applicants. So they had no clue what the hell they we're looking for. One guy asked me to explain what the buzzwords on the application meant. I'm like why didn't you Google them or ask the hiring manager.

They'll flat out lie about all the details of a job just to get a body in a seat. Luckily I asked the hiring manager what hours they worked. And he told me this was a third shift position. In which the Recruiter failed to mention.

They'll call your ass up nights or weekends doesn't matter. If they get your phone number in their system. This could go on for years as they never delete a contact. I still have Recruiting companies I haven't dealt with in 6 or 7 years emailing me.

Salivating at these Amazon roles.

  • Salary: $150,000

  • Starting Bonus: $100,000, paid over 2 years.

  • Stock Based Compensation (RSU): $300,000, vesting over 4 years with 10% the first year, 20% the second, 30% the third, and 40% the fourth.
    • Note: There are some differences in vesting schedules but the “back weighted” nature of this schedule is an Amazon trademark. You have to stay to get paid.
  • Total comp over 4 years: $1m (depending on stock value)
First quarter of march, I am going to aim to knock out four AWS certs(two of them will be renewals and shoot my shot :mjcry:). If I can work there for 10-15 years, I can then move on to a smaller company and retire nicely.

A friend of mine interviewed for a SRE position with amazon. He had 6 rounds of interviews before they told him they wouldn't be continuing. SIX interviews :hhh:. I've heard the easiest route into amazon is contracting but they only seem to hire from indian firms.

That's all global companies look to do now is increase headcount overseas way before hiring Americans. My current job the people in India, Poland, China etc get treated better than Americans. They'll layoff Americans for any reason at all because we cost more to employ. People overseas are running these companies now. American workers are treated like second class citizens now in their own companies. shyt is only gonna get worse.

mmm... :ld:
get a second opinion on this, but if I were you I'd bush it... but then again it depends on what you wanna do.

I didn't enroll in anything yet. Just looking what's out there as far as online schooling is concerned.

I just want to try something different while I'm still WFH. I got some down time and wanted to use it to learn something new. I don't know anything about IT but I'm interested in getting into the field in the future. Cyber security is gaining my interest.

Do you mind pointing me in the right direction or do you know any online resources I can use to get my feet wet?

Word of advice to Brehs, especially ones new to the industry

Stay the fukk away from Dice

1. Youre gonna post your resume publicly and get a high stream of phone calls that are gonna gas you up and make you feel like you hot shyt in these streets
2. You're gonna realize a disproportionate amount of these calls are from indian recruiters who're masking their location to be random states in the US
3. Most of the position they contact you about will be irrelevant or non existent roles for low pay in some place 4000 miles away from where you actually are
3. Should you take the bait, Said recruiters will never follow up after the initial convo....Never. (Sending you shytty, carelessly sewn together word-salad wish lists void of useful details isnt following up)
5. Months after you've taken down your resume, you're still gonna be getting calls from indian firms who hot potatoed your resume to other companies and so on.

Dice is a barren wasteland, a resume graveyard of sorts,

Actual American-based talent acquisitions specialist dont really post jobs on there even though it looks like it. Most of these jobs are outdated as shyt but keep getting reposted so that the date is shown as most recent
I've seen the same 25 jobs hanging around for months at a time, but has a status of " posted 15 mins ago"

Just avoid this place altogether as its a waste of time.

Monster is shyt too,
Career Builder is a condemned crack-house, the Geocities or Angelfire of job boards. My only guess as to why they're still "operating" is that they dont want to give up the domain name.
Indeed is holding on by a thread, but still has some merit.

My advice...

this will take some time but here's what I do

go to glassdoor.com and search whatever IT postion you want and see which companies have those positions

next , go to the actual companies "career" section or job search engine and book mark.

It can be more exhaustive than simply using a search engine so that's why I recommend bookmarking at least 5-10 companies career pages a day until you have accumulated a fukk ton of them.

let's assume you do 5 a day; that's 35 companies in a week you can have in your make-shift database

1 month...That's 140 companies. rinse and repeat

It takes more work than using job board but, but a better chance of finding a job

I know this one lady she left within less than a year and went back to her old job

This is the type of shyt that drives me

I'm not holding my breath and willingly going through 4-6 round interviews knowing the low odds of me landing the gig

This is some shyt I would passively pursue once i'm already comfortable and just have nothing better to do and just decide to play along for the fukk of it and see what happens.

There's easier ways to make whatever money they are offering without all the reality show process of elimination bullshyt.

for every round of interview. that's 4 to 6 companies you could be dealing with

High Stakes low odds of success....that aint my game
This is probably the way to go about it. I think my last attempt with Amazon was a phone screen, online technical screen, a phone technical screen, then 4 more interviews when I went on site. It's exhausting after a while.
